The purpose of this study is to research Feng-Shui of Samseong Hyeol and the interpretation of its mythological significance based on the theory that human beings should be placed in mutual complementary relationship in spatial order.Jeju Samseong Hyeol is the cradle of Tamra myth in Jeju area where three families of Go, Yang and Bu settled for the first time. In Samseong Hyeol, a person performed sacrifice to Heavenly god called Cheongun, and the tribe was emerged as ancestor. This ordering of the Samseong Hyeol rite made it possible to form a community in human life. Also, the fact that the Samseong Hyeol erupted from the earth has started from the notion that the earth has life force. In other words, the birth of three families of Go, Yang and Bu out of a hole between heaven and earth is consistent with Oriental thought, reflecting the faith in the Goddess of Earth based on the productive power of the earth.
The principle of Cheon-Ji-In Samhap of Samseong Hyeol is based on the principle of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements and the principle of CheonwonJibang, and the numerology. The three of Samseong Hyeol refers to Heaven, Hole, and Earth, which is the concept of the cube. From there, three gods of Go, Yang, and Bu were erupted, and this is the Three-gods idea. In addition, Hyeol, the core of propitious site, is like the womb of woman, and the space related to life force. In other words, life is conceived by the union of Yin and Yang, and the principle of Cheon-Ji-In Samhap and the principle of life birth out of Hyeol. In this respect, the three Seong Hyeols that produced three families of Go, Yang and Bu are the subjective consciousness of mythicized men who are made in the conditions and climate of experimental reality.
Therefore, Feng-Shui of Jeju Samseong Hyeol and the interpretation of its mythological significance can be said to be the nativity tale of the ancestors that reflect the life and thought of the Jeju people. At the beginning of mankind, the earth had a close relationship with myths, legends, and folklore. The earth is communion with the community, and the starting point of life where the mind and heart are expanded. In the end, the birth of myth also means that mountain, water, direction, and human beings must be placed in a mutually beneficial relationship with each other as a way to enjoy a harmonious life between man and nature.
