This paper is the research on the application of the Yin-Yang Five Elements and the Cheongan Jiji in Myeongri. Humans are anxious about how things related to themselves will develop in the future, and they have made efforts to get ahead of themselves in order to find out and prepare for their own future, as a solution to this problem, they have adopted the Saju Myeongri studies in East Asian society.
The Myeongri scholars have recognized that human beings were the head of spiritual power of all things because they have inherited the Yin-Yang Five Elements which is the energy that is the source of heaven and earth from heaven. This view of the Yin-Yang Five Elements theory was established as a theoretical system by Zou Yan(鄒衍) of the Qí(齊) state on the Warring States period and was refined and popularized by Dong Zhong shu(董仲舒) of the Han Dynasty. This five elements theory are based on the theory of mutual conflict and the theory of mutual conflict. The method of one’s saju analysis for the future prediction of a person is to interpret the fate of human being in the relationship between Yin-Yang Five Elements and Ganji(干支). The fate of human being is manifested as Gil Hyung Hhwa Bog(吉凶禍福; Good and bad things, happy and unfortunate things) by the Saeng Guek Je Hwa(生剋制化; produce conflict control conversion) of the Yin-Yang Five Elements. Therefore, in order to understand this Myeongri, first of all, it is necessary to grasp clearly the meanings and characteristics of Yin-Yang Five Elements and Ten Celestial Stem[十干] ‧ Twelve Earthly Branches[十二支].
The specific contents of the paper can be divided into four major categories. The first, this study examined the meaning of Yin–Yang and five elements and the process of combining them, first of all, looked at the meaning of origin of the Yin–Yang five elements to clearly understand it. The period when the Yin–Yang and five elements began to integrated with each other is commonly referred to as the Warring States Period. The meaning of Yin–Yang and five elements and the changes and the characteristics of Yin–Yang and five elements were examined during that period. The second, this study studied about the understanding of the concept of the Cheongan and the Jiji and the process of combining them. At this time, first, this study examined the meaning of use of the Cheongan and the Jiji as Inscriptions on Bones and Tortoise Carapaces[甲骨文] the ancient dynasty of Yin(殷), and examined the symbolic significance of the Cheongan and the Jiji in classics of reading fortunes[命理古典]. In addition, this study examined what the Ideological meaning of the Myeongri studies implies in the Ganji by looking at the changes of meaning after the Cheongan and the Jiji are combined. The third, this study investigates how the Ganji is combined with Yin-Yang Five Elements and applied to the Myeongri theory. First of all, after confirming the clues of the Saeng Guek Je Hwa(生剋制化) and the relationship of Yuk Chin(六親), based on Twelve Earthly Branches, I tried to examine the Hyeong·Chung·Hoe·Hab(刑·沖·會·合) actions. The principles derived from the Saeng Guek Je Hwa(生剋制化) and the Hyeong·Chung·Hoe·Hab(刑·沖·會·合) actions can not be interpreted simply and regularly in the interrelationships between the Cheongan and the Jiji. At this time, it is interpreted with many conditions. In particular, consideration of harmony and balance of yin-yang and living environment is indispensable.
