Due to the development and diffusion of Internet technology, there are more than 80 internet broadcasting service providers in Korea. Unlike existing broadcasting, internet personal broadcasting provided by these users is characterized in that two-way communication capable of interacting with the Internet personal broadcasting host (BJ) and the user is performed. Because of this feature, Internet personal broadcasting is not just watching but it is suggesting a new paradigm for constructing broadcasting programs together through active participation.
Especially, in Africa TV, which is a representative broadcasting service providing Internet personal broadcasting service, unlike the conventional broadcasting service, it is actively supporting the cash directly beyond the level of simple participation such as chatting, voting, commenting, There are many fan clubs in which participants are gathered. This is done through the paid interaction mechanism. Among the paid interacting mechanisms, 'Star Balloon' is not only a means to support cash directly to the broadcast operator (BJ), but also joins the fan club through it and appoints the manager as a manager This is an important mechanism that makes a big involvement in broadcasting programs.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of their activities and the level of social presence, commitment, and loyalty through their participation in the fan club members who can be likened to so-called "active participants" Respectively.
The research problems to be embodied are as follows.
<Research Question 1> What are the characteristics of the participant types of the African TV Internet personal broadcasting fan club?
<Research Question 2> What kind of motivation did you join these fan clubs?
<Research Question 3> What are the social presence, commitment, and loyalty of these fan club members?
<Research Question 4> What is the relationship between the activities of these fan club members, motivation for joining, social presence, and commitment and loyalty?
In order to solve these research problems, this study conducted an online questionnaire surveying 406 fan club members of BJ (Internet Personal Broadcasting Host) of African TV. Results analysis included frequency analysis, difference comparison, correlation analysis, and regression analysis.
The results of the study are as follows.
First, the characteristics of the activities of these fan club members are that they are the most preferred genre to participate in the activities are talk / visible radio (228). This is in contrast to the results of the previous studies in which the general audience preferred preference games and culinary / marijuana genres and did not much prefer the talk / visible radio.
39.4% (160 people) watched the whole of the viewing frequency, and 39.7% (161 people) watched more than 3 hours in the watching time. This is very different from the results of previous studies in which the average viewers of African TV use 1 ~ 2 days a week and watch less than 1 hour.
Second, the main motivation of their participation in the fan club was the preference motive of the BJ and the way of proceeding was the most motivating motive, followed by sending time / habitual use, seeking information, motivation of curiosity / surrogate satisfaction appear. This is because the curiosity / surrogate satisfaction motivation is lower and the preference motive of the BJ and the proceeding method is stronger than the result of the previous similar research such as 'Active active' ) It means that he or she will be attracted to himself or that he will like his way of approaching.
The distribution of these motives is divided by demographic variables as follows. First, the 20 's subscribers tend to be higher than those who are in their 30s or older because of the preference of the way, information seeking, and habitual factors, but the motivation for curiosity is higher for subscribers over 30.
According to gender, both men and women had the highest factor of preference in the proceeding mode, while men showed the lowest motivation in curiosity, while women had the lowest in information seeking.
In comparison with occupation, the subscribers of other (unemployed, job preparation, etc.) are higher in information seeking than the other groups, so that they can easily and lightly pay for the educational purpose through internet personal broadcasting. Comparing the level of synchronization by level, the subscribers of relatively more active fan club groups (TOP20 supporters, TOP20 fans, TOP5 supporters, TOP5 fans, supporters, and Fan club president). However, in the case of curiosity motivation, in contrast, relatively low participants showed a higher level of motivation.
Third, the social presence, engagement, and loyalty of the participants showed a high social presence and a high level of loyalty. The level of loyalty was higher than those of previous studies gave.
The social presence is higher in the 20s than in the 30s. There was no difference between the sexes, but the highest among the students in college was because of their academic ability. In the occupation, the number of high - income subscribers was higher than that of the technology / production subscribers. The degree of activity showed a higher social presence in the group of the hot fan clubs (TOP20 supporters, TOP20 fans, TOP5 supporters, TOP5 fans, supporters, and Fan club president). In the case of immersion, there was no significant difference in age and gender. Participants in civil servants showed a high level of immersion, and income level showed a high level of immersion with high income subscribers. In addition, there was no significant difference in loyalty among the age groups, but women showed stronger loyalty than men in terms of gender. Participants with income levels of 100-199 million won showed the highest loyalty figures. This shows that excessive loyalty leads to excessive support beyond income level.
Fourth, the relationship between fan club activity, participation motivation, social presence, commitment, and loyalty is as follows. First of all, the frequency of activities and the preference of the participants in the process of participating motivation had a positive effect on the social presence of the fan club activity and participation motive. The factors affecting the immersion degree were the average frequency of watching the week and the level of activity, seeking information in the motivation, preference of proceeding mode, and substitute satisfaction. Regarding loyalty, it can be seen that average viewing frequency per week, average viewing time, seeking information during the subscription motivation, preference of proceeding mode, and habitual use have a positive effect. In summary, the higher the frequency of watching and participating in internet personal broadcasting programs, and the better the manner of the program facilitator (BJ), the higher the social presence, engagement and loyalty. In other words, as the participants of the BJ fan clubs in the study target the way of the host (BJ) or the host, they frequently participate in the broadcasting, and through this, they have high social presence, deep commitment and strong loyalty.
