The purpose of this study was to find out relationship between coaching leadership of the principal of daycare center perceived by a teacher and teacher efficacy. There was difference in teacher efficacy depending on the principal’s coaching leadership. The study problems were as follows;
Problem 1. How is coaching leadership of principal of daycare center perceived by teacher related to teacher efficacy?
Problem 2. What is the difference in teacher efficacy depending on coaching leadership of principal of daycare center perceived by teacher?
Problem 3. Is there difference in teacher efficacy depending on teach
er’s background variable?
The study took a final analysis of 210 questionnaires handed to teachers in 19 public, private, home and workplace daycare centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. To check coaching leadership of daycare center principals perceived by teacher, the study used coaching leadership tool developed by Choi Chi Young(2003) and the teacher efficacy tool translated, revised and supplemented by Lee Bun Ryeo(1998) for daycare center teachers.
To see the correlation with each variable, the study used SPSS 22.0, frequency analysis and pearson’s correlation. The collected data was analyzed by t-test, one way ANOVA and cheffé to see difference between the teacher’s personal background and efficacy.
The results of the study were as in the following.
First, there was a significant relationship between coaching leadership of principal of daycare center perceived by teacher and teacher efficacy.
Second, depending on the factor level of coaching leadership of principal of daycare center, teacher efficacy differed. There was a strong relationship with teacher efficacy and every subfactor of coaching leadership, direction guidance, capacity improvement, accomplishment assessment and relationship, and the general teacher efficacy showed a significant result.
Third, in terms of teacher efficacy depending on teacher’s background variables, a teacher’s age, highest level of schooling, major, type of institution, position, qualification, major of the principal, and the time the teacher had worked with the principal caused difference in teacher efficacy.
Based on the results, the study proved a significant relationship between coaching leadership of the principal of daycare center perceived by teacher and teacher efficacy.
