The purpose of this study is to analyze the learning effects and satisfaction level according to smartphone-only app utilization of kindergarteners’ parents in terms of them and to examine the difference of individual characteristics. The thesis of this study is to analyze the difference between satisfaction level and the learning effects depending on using smartphone-only app utilization of kindergarteners’ parents. The research targets are the kindergarteners’ parents in 5 private kindergartens located in Gyeonggi-do. They are analyzed with the 443 collected questionnaires which is analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test, F-test.
The following is the result of this study
First, in terms of the satisfaction level according to smartphone-only app, there were significant results in each sub-factor of parents’ educational level, child’s age, occupational status, utilization motivation. The difference of satisfaction level depending on parents’ educational level was significant in all sub-factors. In a sub-factor, the satisfaction level of the parents graduating from high school was the highest, followed by parents graduating more than university and college. There was no significant outcome in the satisfaction level difference according to child’s age. In terms of occupational status, parents with occupation had higher satisfaction level. As a sub-factor, the convenience of app utilization was revealed. According to parents’ app utilization motivation, people who selected the answer of ‘to acquire information’ showed higher satisfaction level.
Second, in terms of the difference of learning effect according to kindergarten-only app utilization, parents’ educational level, child’s age, occupational status, utilization motivation commonly showed higher learning effect in basic living habits. According to child age, 4-year children had higher influences than 3-year children regarding communication effect and children relationship effect. According to parents’ occupation status, the result is meaningful in the sub-factors of ‘communication, education effect, child relation’ in general. Especially, the parents with occupation indicated the utility as well as convenience satisfaction for smartphone app use and the learning effect. And the learning effect according to parents’ exclusive app utilization motive is the most efficient for basic living effect and the response of ‘to acquire information’. The 89.4% of the parent participants were mothers; they were satisfied with the conveince of smartphone-only app with mobility and immediacy if they had jobs. They also had higher satisfaction level for exclusive app utilization in terms of learning effect.
The implications of the study from the findings above are as follows.
First, as predicting the changes of communication method between kindergartens and parents, the introduction of exclusive app to systematically realize basic living education or safety education for coherent and combined early childhood education among kindergartens, homes, teachers.
Second, considering the development characteristics of early childhood, the use of exclusive app contents is suggested as a personality education teaching media in which kindergartens and homes are linked in smartphones app or smart devices.
Third, the exclusive app utilization will be extended by indicating that the learning effect can contribute to improving the effectiveness when kindergartens are combined to parents’ child education at home.
To conclude, it is hoped that practical communication methods and future studies continue for the development of early childhood education since this study was not conducted for entire exclusive apps.
