The primary purpose of this study was to examine the moderated mediating effect of social support on the interpersonal problems among adolescents who have early maladaptive schema and rejection sensitivity. The study samples were consisted of 430 middle school student in Daegu and Gyeongbuk who were selected as using a purposive sampling method.
The main findings are as follows :
Firstly, all the variables of early maladaptive schema, interpersonal problems, rejection sensitivity and social support, showed the statistically significant and positive correlation.
Secondly, the results made from the multiple regression analysis, which was used to verify the mediating effects of rejection sensitivity, showed that the effects of early maladaptive schema had the partial mediation effects on rejection sensitivity.
This study seemed to shed the insights of understanding the psychological characteristics of early maladaptive schema and the therapeutic intervention of such a understanding by proving that rejection sensitivity played a role of mediations in correlation of early maladaptive schema with interpersonal problems.
Finally, the limitations of this study and suggestions for follw-up research are further discussed.
