Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine about the influence of self-esteem, sense of humor, and gratitude disposition in young children of a five-year-old class upon flourish. The following are the research problems for achieving this objective.
First, what about the level of self-esteem, sense of humor, gratitude disposition, and flourish in young children?
Second, what about the relationship among self-esteem, sense of humor, gratitude disposition, and flourish in young children?
Third, what about the relative influence in young children's self-esteem, sense of humor, and gratitude disposition upon flourish?
To achieve the objective of this study, the questionnaire subjects were 200 young children in a five-year-old class who are attending kindergarten and child care center where are located in Busan Metropolitan City with the random sampling. Totally 189 copies were finally processed statistically among the collected questionnaires and test checklists targeting 200 parents and 17 homeroom teachers as the subjects.
For the data processing in the questionnaires of this study, the research problems were analyzed by carrying out descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis with the use of Window-purpose PASW 18.0 program.
The findings, which were analyzed through the above procedure, are as follows.
First, as for young children's self-esteem, sense of humor, and flourish, each variable was being recognized with the higher level than moderate. Among sub-factors of gratitude disposition, the gratitude expression was shown to be recognized with a little lower level than moderate.
Second, as a result of figuring out the correlation among self-esteem, sense of humor, gratitude disposition, and flourish in young children of the five-year-old class, the significantly positive correlation was indicated between flourish and self-esteem(r=.51, p<.01), between flourish and sense of humor(r=.39, p<.01), between flourish and gratitude disposition(r=.37, p<.01).
Third, in consequence of examining the influence of self-esteem, sense of humor, and gratitude disposition in young children of the five-year-old class upon flourish, the self-esteem accounted for 26%, thereby having been indicated to have the largest explanation power. Here was increased gratitude disposition by 4% and sense of humor by 2%. Thus, it was shown to have 32% of the explanation power. As for the variables of having influence flourish, the explanation power was indicated in self-esteem with 28%, sense of humor with 25%, and gratitude disposition with 14%.
Synthesizing the above, the influence of self-esteem, sense of humor, and gratitude disposition in young children upon flourish is confirmed. Hence, to enhance flourish, the home and the early childhood education institution need to be developed young children's flourish program of including the contents of promoting self-esteem, sense of humor, and gratitude disposition along with offering the relationship-oriented environment. To do this, there is also a need to research into confirming the relationship between other internal & psychological variables and flourish.
