Internet and the development of IT industry have changed the whole lives and mentality of human. Especially, along with the distribution of high-speed internet network, the humanity came to share and store more information than before. However, its accompanying dysfunctions are affecting many youth who are thoughtlessly accepting it without any preparation. The youth are the future of one country and the important human resources who would be responsible for the future of the nation. Therefore, they must be helped to be grown up physically, mentally, psychologically and spiritually.
In this perspective, it can be said that an influence of internet and the information age on youth in their thinking and lives could be great. Particularly, a damage from internet addiction can be extended from individual to family and moreover, social problems.
If we carefully look at the dictionary definition about an addiction, an addiction can be extensively divided into a material addiction and an acting addiction. Hence, an addiction is being enslaved by some materials or subjects due to some uncontrollable compulsive desires.
The reason why the adolescent kids or the adults are into addiction is because of family troubles, a low self-esteem, a peer pressure, a curiosity, a cultural influence, a drug abuse by parents, an absence of ethical and spiritual values and etc.
In these situations, this thesis tried to present a problem about the adolescent internet addiction and to seek its solution by Bowen's Family Treatment Approach. The cause of the adolescent internet addiction was discussed in the family systematic perspective and the functional perspective. Therefore, Bowen's Family Treatment Approach has the methods called the differentiation of self, the triangle service to ride, and the coaching. For the Christian counseling treatment method, there are support group and the twelve steps.
