    Purpose of this study was to explore affecting factors related to Internet addiction for adolescents. Data were collected through self-report questionnaire from 234 adolescents of 2 middle schools located at Daejeon in Korea and
    225 adolescents of 2 middle schools located at SuiZhou in China. Used tools are Internet addiction test developed by Young, brief self-control scale developed by Tangney. The tool of adolescents’ stress scale developed by KYPS and perceived parental rearing attitude scale revised by Liu. Data were
    analyzed using descriptive statistics, χ2-test, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and hierarchical multiple regression with SPSS/WIN Statistics 21.0 program.
    The main results of this study can be summarized as follows:
    1. The potential risk of Internet addiction users among Korean were 47 (20.1%), Chinese were 35 (15.6%). And there were no significant differences between Korean and Chinese adolescent of internet addiction and self-control. Korean adolescents perceived more receptive, more self-regulative, and less accomplishment pressure about their parents' rearing attitudes compared to the Chinese adolescents (t=8.06, p<.001). Chinese adolescents experienced more stress in the domain of friends (t=-7.18, p<.001).
    2. 1) Among Korean adolescents, there were significant differences in Internet addiction according to gender, experience period, times in a week, hours per time and main reason of using the Internet, satisfaction after using Internet, considering myself Internet addiction, family communication and parents’ controlling of using Internet.
    According to hierarchical multiple regression analyses showed the factors in order as follows, considering myself Internet addiction, self-control, hours in one time, stress, times in a week of using Internet, parents’ control of using Internet and satisfaction after using Internet were significantly associated with Internet addiction and the explanation power of those variables was 55% (p<.001).
    2) Among Chinese adolescents, there were significant differences in Internet addiction according to gender, school performance and attendance, place, times in a week, hours in one time and main reason of using Internet, accessing pornography website, satisfaction after using Internet, considering myself Internet addiction and parents control of using Internet.
    According to hierarchical multiple regression analyses showed the factors in order as follows considering myself Internet addiction, stress, self-control, gender, hours in one time, times in a week of using Internet, and satisfaction after using Internet were significantly associated with Internet addiction and the explanation power of those variables was 56% (p<.001).
    Furthermore, in terms of Korean adolescents, emphasizing more on the symptoms and diagnostic criteria of Internet addiction’s education and training to improve adolescents’ sensitivity of Internet addiction and increasing their level of self-control may be useful to prevent Internet addiction. For Chinese adolescents, should also focus on the dangers of Internet addiction education, stress management strategies, and strengthen adolescents’ self-control ability to help adolescents’ Internet addiction prevention.
