The study is about a tumulus transition of 3-5 century Yeongsan River basin.
Tumulus of Yeongsan River basin, consists basically mounds and burial facilities. First, mound can be distinguished by the construction method and the planar. burial facility Soil coffin(土壙), Wooden coffin(木棺), Outer coffin tomb(Wooden chamber-木槨), depending on the burial method can be divided into jar coffin(甕棺), expansion and placement of burial facility is subdivided.
To distinguish between the tumulus formats and procedures through a combination of the two of the attributes, it is possible to check the 23 one form tumulus Yeongsan River basin has the appearance of 16 stages of change. As a result, First, Arrangement method of burial facilities is changed. And The second, the tombs size is expanded. Third, the form of tombs is changed. Therefore, Yeongsan River Basin Tombs are divided into 10 types.
The excavated relics in tombs are classified according to the material. The excavated relics are divided into three types. These three types are pottery(土器), iron(鐵器), and jade(玉). Among the 3 types, The morphology of the pottery is significant. As a result, Pottery can be divided into two phases.
Based on these results, Through tumulus types, Batch excavated pottery patterns and Time of excavated relics Yeongsan River Basin tombs are divided into four period. Tumulus of change, there are three causes.
Depending on the period, tumulus change is due to three causes. Three causes is Construction location change(立地變化), customs of Duplicate burial(多葬習俗), Tumulus differentiation(古墳 差別).
And if you check the developments of regional mounds Phase 1 and Phase 2 Yeongsan River Basin can be divided into 3 regions. Phase 3, rectangular tumulus is not confirmed from upstream of Yeongsan River basin. Phase 4, It is divided into two regions. it is southeast (Yeongam region) and Northwest (Muan region).
Therefore, trapezoid and square of the tumulus is gradually disappear Yeongsan River upstream and northwest. And, it is downsized to downstream of Yeongsan River.
And, large-scale settlements have been identified in the Yeongsan River upstream and northwest, showing that excavated the amount of Baekje system relic is increased.
When viewed from this point, it is possible to know the results in area reduction of Mahan in Yeongsan River basin and Baekje of Yeongsan River basin expansion path.
Stage when the influence of Baekje increases in Yeongsan River basin, overlapping with the timing of the tumulus, is estimated to go through the integration process over four times, the origin of 275 years, 350 years, 425 years, and 500 years.
Influence of Baekje is increased. and area of Mahan is downsized. As a result, the middle of the sixth century it is incorporated into Baekje.
