This study is to evaluate the impact of parenting stress on quality of life. This study aims to focus on how parenting stress affects four areas; physical, psychological, social and living environments with parenting efficacy as a parameter and considering it as distress, parents' natural dysfunctional interaction and child's difficult temperament.
The target audience of the questionnaire is consignment agency workers and housewives living in city of Suwon, married and have kids. Research questions are to evaluate the results assuming that when parents' parenting stress rises and rises on high level, parenting efficacy has impact on their quality of life. (depends on sub-factors of distress, dysfunctional interaction, and the child's difficult temperament)
Data processing methods include; using of Cronbach's a for reliability test of testing tools, using descriptive statistics analysis to determine demographic variables' characteristics and parenting stress, parenting efficacy and quality of life, and using multiple regression analysis to investigate the influence of independent/dependent variables. The results are as follows:
Indepednent variable, child's difficult temperament was found significant which we were able to find out that as the variable gets lower, the parents' recognized quality of life is higher. Also, to demographic characteristics; monthly income and the education levels were significant to recognize the quality of life. The relationship between parenting stress and parenting efficacy as a parameter variable, the efficacy was found higher than the stress which helped us to find out that when parenting efficacy is high, quality of life is higher even if the parenting stress is on a high level.
Even though this study failed to generalize the research results of parenting stress' impact on quality of life under the condition; unable to consider various characteristics and limit of residence area of the target audience, it was good enough to find out that when parenting efficacy is high, it has a strong positive effect to mitigate the level of parenting stress.
