The value of Hanok has been widely expanded to various ranges,
attribute to the exceptional Korean cultural properties focusing on the harmony with the Korean nature and the beauty of Korean Traditional House. Likewise the residence style of Hanok is chosen by not only some people who are interested in specific forms of traditional housing system, Hanok, but also is selected for people looking forward to get ordinary housing systems. But it is true that traditional Korean house is far from the common residence style because of its housing
components which are not well-matched to contemporary ways of life, for instance, high construction costs, requirements of manufacturing manually, and high maintenance charges.
Also there are necessities to have guiding principles for traditional
Korean house to emphasize its unique features and monitors its overall performance.
Therefore this study will find the ways to collate regulations and authentic information and apply to Traditional Korean house and
present certified standard guidelines in consideration of its unique
characters.
This study has in progress in order to research the certification
systems which assure of the performances of Traditional Korean
building by analysis of Hanok which evaluates that of modern buildings.
In the body, this thesis proposal to analysis of the laws and certification system related to Hanok. Also, this thesis suggests elicitation, the possibility of applying Hanok, assessment based on it through a group of experts and establishment standard and item standard. Furthermore there are suggestions on distribution of Hanok certification items,
incentives and connectivity with green building certification systems.
It seems that there are differences in the level of Korean traditional
building which is requested according to regional features and climates, also in energy, technology, landscape, design and emotional factors which need to pursue from Hanok.
However, this thesis applies the evaluation index of environmental
performances like Green building certification system and standard –
such as reductions of the amount of energy use and greenhouse gas
emissions, reuse resources, new & renewable energy applications -
which are all building concepts with Hanok.
As a result of examining various certification systems, this thesis
elicits performance of building, energy conservation and items of green building and establish the evaluation standards including various
regulations, ordinances, certification systems and so on under the
following heads – design / landscape, green building / energy saving,
safety / durability.
On the basis of the draft of established Hanok certificate, this study
suggested on offering incentives to vitalize Hanok certification system, on the management system of Hanok building and on the connectivity of Hanok building certification system and green building certification
system.
Also based on examining the laws of construction in Korea, this study is expected to offer the preliminary data on Hanok certification by
eliciting the technical development factors for new-Hanok and Hanok
certification evaluation fields and items through inspecting and
classifying items and creating conditions for Hanok which can widen to various ranges accepting a minimum standard which can ensure the
quality of modern residence life which has the unique properties Hanok has,
