The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the four-week combined dribble training on static and dynamic dribbling skills of amateur basketball players.
To clarify the purpose, three groups of amateur college basketball players(control group n=10, combined dribble training n=11, conventional dribble training n=11) were conducted for four weeks training. The results were as follows;
1. Changes in static dribbling skills1) 4-week of combined dribble training group showed statistically significant increase in the abilities those were front dribble, side dribble, front ’eight’ dribble , behind ’eight’ dribble, and front dribble point, average front dribble power as well.2) 4-week of conventional dribble training group showed statistically significant increase in the abilities those were front dribble, side dribble, front ’eight’ dribble , behind ’eight’ dribble, and dribble front point, average front dribble power as well.3) Control group showed a significant change only for average front dribble power4) There was no significant difference between the training groups in all categories for the static dribbling ability. However, both of the training groups showed higher improvement than the control group.
2. Changes in the dynamic dribbling skills1) 4-week of combined dribble training group showed statistically significant increase in the abilities those were 28m-zigzag dribble, 40m2-dribble, 50m front and back dribble.2) 4-week of conventional dribble training group showed statistically significant increase in the abilities those were 40m2-dribble(with right hand).3) Control group showed no significant change in all categories.4) Combined dribble training group showed significant increase than both of the conventional training and control group in all dynamic dribbling skills.
Collectively, these results provide that 4 week-of combined dribble training program seems to improve both the static and dynamic dribble ability. On the other hand, 4 week-of conventional dribble training program would have effects on static dribbling skills and partial dynamic dribbling skills.Therefore, combined dribbling training might be more suitable training methods to improve the dribble skills and to enhance performance of amateur basketball players.
