청소년의 완벽주의적 자기제시와 또래관계 질 관계에서 정서표현 억제의 매개효과 = The Mediating Effects of Suppression of Emotional Expression on the Relationship between Perfectionistic Self-Presentation and Quality of Peer Relationships

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 청소년의 완벽주의적 자기제시와 또래관계 질에서 정서표현 억제의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 연구대상은 대구·경북 소재 중·고등학생 761명을 대상으로 완벽주의적 자기제시 척도(The Perfectionistic Self-presentation Scale), 정서표현 억제척도(Attitude Toward Emotional Expression Scale : ATEES) 그리고 또래관계 질을 평가하기 위해 NRI(Network of Relationships Inventory)의 자기 보고식 설문을 실시하였다. 분석방법으로는 SPSS 19.0 통계 프로그램을 활용하여 검증하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 주요 변인들의 상관을 분석한 결과 완벽주의적 자기제시와 또래관계 질과 정서 표현 억제와 유의미한 부적상관을 보였으며 정서표현 억제는 또래관계 질에 부적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 변인들의 영향력을 알아보기 위해 단순회귀분석을 실시한 결과 완벽주의적 자기제시는 또래관계 질을 예측할 수 있었다. 셋째, Baron과 Kenny(1986)가 제안한 3단계 매개효과 분석 방법을 사용하여 청소년의 완벽주의적 자기제시와 또래관계 질에서 정서표현 억제는 매개효과가 있는지 확인하였다. 그 결과 청소년의 완벽주의적 자기제시는 정서표현 억제를 통한 간접효과가 있음이 확인 되었는데, 정서표현 억제의 효과를 통제 하였을 경우 완벽주의적 자기제시는 또래관계 질에 정적인 효과를 보였다.
이러한 결과는 청소년의 완벽주의적 자기제시와 또래관계 질에 대한 이해의 틀을 제공할 뿐만 아니라, 상담에서 정서표현 억제에 대한 접근을 통해 청소년의 또래관계 질을 향상 및 개선시킬 수 있음에도 의의를 가진다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 본 연구의 제한점과 추후 연구 방향에 대한 제안을 논의하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this research is to verify the mediating effect of suppression of emotional expression on the relationship between perfectionistic self-presentation and quality of peer relationships. The self-report survey of Perfectionistic Self-presentation Scale-K, Network of Relationships Inventory and Attitude Toward Emotional expression Scale were implemented. The total of 761 middle school and high school students(353 male, 408 female) participated in this study. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, correlation analysis, stepwise multiple regression with SPSS 19.0.
The major findings of study can be summarized as follows.
First, perfectionistic self-presentation was positively associated with suppression of emotional expression and quality of peer relationships. Second, perfectionistic self-presentation had an effect on suppression of emotional expression, and quality of peer relationships. Third, suppression of emotional expression was partially mediated the relationship between perfectionistic self-presentation and quality of peer relationships. However, when the suppression of emotional expression is controlled, perfectionistic self-presentation had positive effect to the quality of peer relationships. In conclusion, in case of adolescents, it is suggested that suppression of emotional expression and perfectionistic self-presentation are significant factors to manage the quality of peer relationships. It can be help for adolescents who has facets of perfectionistic self-presentation to increase the quality of peer relationship by expressing their expression properly.
In the conclusion, the implications and limits of this study were discussed, and future research directions were suggested.
