There are several methodologies including Gyukgook, Yongsin, Sinsal, Johu and 12unsung that analyze Saju Palja. No methodology deviates from Yinyang and the Five-elements. Both the 10 Celestial-stems and the 12 Earthly-branches were created in the correlation between Yinyang and the Five-elements. The 10 Celestial-stems and the 12 Earthly- branches result in Sangsaeng(compatibility)?Sangkeuk(incompatibility) according to the nature of the Five-elements. The nature of Yinyang is added to Saeng?Keuk(compatibility?incompatibility) producing Hab?Choong. The mixture of Hab?Choong result in Hoi?Hyung?Hae?Pa. Accordingly, the functional nature between Saeng?Keuk(compatibility?incompatibility) and Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa cannot be ignored in analyzing Saju.
Saeng?Keuk(compatibility?incompatibility) are the absolute function of the Five-elements, whereas Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa are the relative function of the Stems-branches. Coincidently, Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa serve the absolute function to analyze Saju Palja and at the same time serve the relative function of the Stems-branches. It means that the relative function of the Stems-branches can be established or cannot be in the aspect of function. It also means that it is very difficult to judge how much functional Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa are. Therefore, the function of Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa is occasionally ignored in analizing Saju.
This thesis studies on the effect of Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa on the analysis of Saju. For this purpose, it studies on the natures of the Five-elements and the Stems-branches and understand the functional features of Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa by figuring out the function of Saeng?Keuk for the Five-elements and the Stems- branches. It examines each principle of Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa on the basis of the classical texts of Myungri. It investigates the conditions in which Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa can generate the functions. The function is related to Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa, though, it is not unconditionally generated. The condition for activation has to be set up in order to activate the function even though Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa are interrelated with each other. The condition for activation is called ‘motivation’. The ‘motivation’ has to begin in order to generate the function when Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa are interrelated with each other. It is not working without the ‘motivation’.
This thesis examines the interrelation of Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung? Hae?Pa. On the basis of the fact that Hae is produced by the relation between Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa is given by the mixture of one Hap and another Hap, this thesis proves on the fundamental viewpoint that there is negative thing when Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa are mixed. This thesis recounts the existing Hyung?Hab theory and remote Hab?remote Choong ones from ‘motivation’ of Hoi?Hab?Choong?Hyung?Hae?Pa, a view of activation. This thesis finally verifies its main opinions with examples of Saju written in the classical texts of Myungri by proving it.

사주팔자를 분석하는 방법론에는 格局이론 用神이론 神殺이론 調喉이론 十二運星이론 등이 있다. 어떠한 사주분석방법론을 취하더라도 벗어날 수 없는 것이 陰陽五行의 이치이다. 음양오행의 상관관계에서 十天干과 十二地支가 만들어졌다. 10天干?12地支는 오행의 성정에 따라 相生?相剋이라는 작용현상이 일어난다. 이 生剋작용에 음양의 속성이 가미되어 合?沖이라는 작용현상이 발생하고, 合?沖의 혼재로 인하여 會?刑?害?破라는 작용현상이 도출되었다. 따라서 사주를 분석하는데 있어서 生?剋과 合?會?沖?刑?害?破의 작용적 속성을 무시할 수 없다.
生剋작용이 오행의 절대적 작용개념이라면 合?會?沖?刑?害?破는 干支의 상대적 작용개념이다. 공교롭게도 合?會?沖?刑?害?破가 사주팔자를 분석하는데 절대적 분석요소임에도 불구하고 干支의 상대적 작용개념이기도 하다. 干支의 상대적 작용개념이란 작용적 측면에서 성립될 수도 있고 성립되지 않을 수도 있다는 의미이고, 그만큼 合?會?沖?刑?害?破의 작용력을 판단하기가 어렵다는 것을 의미하기도 한다. 이런 까닭으로 合?會?沖?刑?害?破의 작용력이 사주분석에서 무시되기도 한다.
이에 본 논문에서는 合?會?沖?刑?害?破의 작용이 사주분석에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아보고자 한다. 이를 위하여 먼저 五行의 성정과 干支의 속성을 살펴보고, 그에 따른 五行干支의 生剋작용에 대하여 알아봄으로써 合?會?沖?刑?害?破의 작용적 속성을 이해한다. 다음으로 合?會?沖?刑?害?破 각각의 작용원리에 대하여 명리고서를 통하여 고찰한다. 그런 연후에 合?會?沖?刑?害?破가 그 작용력을 발동하는 조건에 대하여 알아본다. 비록 合?會?沖?刑?害?破가 그 작용관계에 놓여 있다하더라도 무조건 그 작용력이 發動하는 것이 아니다. 작용관계가 성립된 合?會?沖?刑?害?破라도 그 작용이 발동하기 위해서는 發動條件이 성립되어야 한다. 合?會?沖?刑?害?破가 발동하는 성립조건을 ‘動機附輿’라고 칭한다. 즉 작용관계가 성립된 合?會?沖?刑?害?破는 ‘동기부여’가 되었을 때 비로소 그 작용이 발동하고 ‘동기부여’가 없으면 발동하지 않는다는 것을 새로이 밝혀보았다.
그리고 合?會?沖?刑?害?破 상호간의 관계에 대하여 살펴본다. 가령 合과 沖의 작용관계에서 害의 작용이 발생하고, 合과 合이 혼재하여 刑과 破의 작용이 발생한다는 점에서 合?會?沖?刑?害?破가 서로 혼재할 경우에 좋지 않다는 것을 원리적 시각에서 증명하였다. 더불어 기존의 刑合이론과 遙合?遙沖이론을 合?會?沖?刑?害?破의 ‘동기부여’라는 발동조건적 측면에서 재조명하였다. 이를 논증하는 방법으로 명리고서에 나오는 사주사례를 통하여 본 논문에서 주장하는 바를 검증하였다.
