This study is aimed at examining the mediated effects of autonomy need satisfaction in a relationship between parental psychological control and life satisfaction. For this purpose, I conducted surveys of 346 university students to measure Parental Psychological Control Scale(PCS), Autonomy Need Satisfaction Scale, and Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS)
The main results of this study are summarized as follows.
Primarily, a person under high parental psychological control shows low autonomy need satisfaction. Secondly, it is proven that a person who has high autonomy need satisfaction expresses high life satisfaction. Lastly, autonomy need satisfaction performs a function as a parameter in the relationship between parental psychological control and life satisfaction.
I found that parental psychological control and autonomy need satisfaction affect life satisfaction through this study. This study confirms the importance of the way of bringing up children and autonomy need satisfaction in raising life satisfaction. In addition, this study implies that checking autonomy need satisfaction degree is important in order to improve the quality of life of university students who are suffering from various environmental changes and stress.
