This study focused on examining influential relationship between social support, everyday creativity and career preparation behavior targeting university students in Seoul and Gyeonggido province, and positively verifying the effect of social support through a medium of everyday creativity over career preparation behavior. Based on such purpose, I have established a research hypothesis, and verified influential relationship, between social support, everyday creativity and career preparation behavior, and mediated effect of everyday creativity in between social support and career preparation behavior, through an analysis of structural models and multiple regression analysis.
In order to verify such research problems, I have implemented a survey from April 14th, 2014 to May 2nd, 2014, targeting upper grades university students in Seoul and Gyeonggido province. I have handed out 400 surveys in total 6 universities, collected 370 surveys (collect ratio 93%), and among them 363 surveys were used in actual analysis, excluding 7 surveys with unfaithful answers. The sum up of the results of the research is as in the following.
First of all, as a result of verifying the effects of social support of the students on career preparation behavior, among the social support factors, it was shown that information support had positive effects on the tool equipping activities and goal achieving activities which are components of career preparation behavior. Secondly, as a result of verifying the effects of social support of the students on everyday creativity, social support components of evaluation support and information support showed positive correlations with components of everyday creativity such as unique flexibility, alternative problem solving skills, adventurous pursuit of freedom, altruistic self-expansion, relational openness, characteristic independence, and enquiring immersion. Thirdly, as a result of verifying the everyday creativity of the students on career preparation behavior, higher creativity showed more positive effects on career preparation behavior. Fourthly, direct influencing relationships between social support, everyday creativity, and career preparation behavior and everyday creativity was shown to have a complete mediator effect on the relationship between social support and career preparation behavior. Other than these, as for the differences in accordance with location, student in Seoul showed higher differences compared to students in the Gyeonggi-do area, and as for per major, students majoring in art and physical education showed differences in unique flexibility and alternative problem solving skills compared to students majoring in the field of engineering. Also, males showed differences in unique flexibility compared to females.
Implications of person in charge in universities toward this results are as of following. First, since the effectiveness of everyday creativity on career preparation behavior is proved, a development of program that creativity class grafted with school curriculum is necessary in order to develop creativity. Second, each school needs to diagnose capability level of its students and implement customized program that would elevate creativity and career preparation behavior in grade, gender and major comparison. Third, schools need to procure and educate human resources with expertise in order to strengthen the supports in career, occupation and employment field of university students. Each universities are managing career advisors as various status, such as contract worker or freelance. Therefore support for employment and career that fits to characteristics of each university and has continuity and professionalism must be made. I wish succeeding studies that could be helpful for progress of university students with expanded subject of research to be realized.
