This study purposed to investe the relationships among trait anger, anger rumination, interpersonal problems, and mindfulness of university students, and verified the mediating effect of mindfulness in the influence of trait anger and anger rumination on interpersonal relationships of college students.
The subjects of this research were 429 university students in Deagu and Gyeongbuk areas. The participants were asked to complete questionnaires such as State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory-Korean version(STAXI-K), Anger Rumination Scale(K-ARS), Mindfulness Scale, Short form of the Korea Inventory of Interpersonal Problems Circumplex scales(KIIP-SC).
The results of the study were as follows.
First, trait anger, anger rumination, interpersonal problems, and mindfulness had a positive correlation.
Second, as the trait anger is higher, the interpersonal problems are higher. The higher trait anger makes more PA problems and NO problems.
Third, the higher anger rumination is, the higher interpersonal problems have. As the anger rumination is higher, the DE problems and FG problems are higher.
Fourth, In the effect of trait anger on interpersonal relationships, mindfulness played a partial mediating role.
Fifth, In the effect of anger rumination on interpersonal relationships, mindfulness played a partial mediating role.
This study is meaningful in that mindfulness was confirmed to conduct partial mediating role for each effect of the trait anger and anger rumination on interpersonal relationships of university students.
