복합문화공간의 특성과 유형에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Characteristics and the Types of Cultural Complex

국문 초록 (Abstract)

산업화와 경제성장의 시대는 가고, 지식집약화와 문화소비가 주도하는 시대가 왔다. 창의, 체험, 공유는 문화계와 산업계의 화두로 등장했고, 놀이와 감성을 중요시하는 새로운 라이프스타일은 문화소비의 변화를 가져왔다. 이러한 추세는 문화소비자들이 일상생활에서의 문화적 혜택을 요구하게 만들었고, 문화공간의 복합화를 유도하고 있다. 문화, 경제, 도시개발 등 다방면에서 일어나고 있는 복합화 현상은 문화공간에도 적용되고 있다. 복합문화공간은 나날이 진화하고 있으며, 오늘날의 시대적 변화 사회적 요구를 반영하여 정부나 기업에서는 복합문화공간을 지향한 사회기반시설을 건립하고 있다. 그러나 복합문화공간이 갖춰야 할 요소를 갖추지 못한 명목상의 ‘복합문화공간’으로 건립되는 경우가 다반수다. 이에 본 연구는 복합문화공간이 갖춰야 할 기능과 주요 요소를 도출하고자 복합문화공간의 개념을 명확히 정의하고 현대사회의 복합문화공간이 가지는 특성과 유형별 특징을 분석하는 것을 주요 목적으로 연구를 수행하였다.
2장에서는 문화공간과 복합화에 대한 이론적 고찰을 통해 복합문화공간에 대한 개념을 정의하고, 기존에 문화시설로 국한되어온 문화공간이 복합화되는 변화 양상을 살펴보았다. 3장에서는 현대사회에 다양한 형태를 가지는 복합문화공간의 분석을 통해 장르의 복합화, 공간의 복합화, 문화와 소비의 결합, 공공공간 조성을 복합문화공간의 주요 특성으로 정의하였다. 4장에서는 복합문화공간의 유형별 사례조사를 통해 각 유형의 주요 특징을 도출하고, 사례별 복합문화공간의 공간 구성과 운영 프로그램을 알아보았다. 이를 통해 주요 공간의 핵심기능에 따라 복합문화공간의 유형을 다음과 같이 분류하였다. 첫째, 문예회관형은 공연과 전시와 같은 문화적 기능을 가지는 전용관들이 집합된 종합문화예술센터로 공간대관과 자체 기획공연을 운영하며, 시민을 위한 무료 공연 등을 진행한다. 둘째, 상업공간형은 문화기반시설을 중심으로 소비와 주거, 업무가 가능한 공간을 형성하고 있다. 이러한 유형은 토지 이용의 효율성과 집적 시설을 통한 편의제공이 큰 특징이며, 도시의 랜드마크를 지향하고 있다. 셋째, 대안공간형은 상업성에 구애받지 않고 기존의 문화시설들이 다루지 못한 실험적인 문화예술 활동을 수용하고 있다.

본 연구를 통해 복합문화공간의 특성을 다음과 같이 정의할 수 있었다. 첫째, 장르의 복합화이다. 현대사회의 복합문화공간은 장르의 복합화를 통해 하나의 장르에 국한되지 않고, 문화다양성을 수용하고 있다. 둘째, 공간의 복합화이다. 공간의 물리적 복합은 다른 기능을 수행하는 공간들간의 긴밀한 연계를 통해 이루어지며, 이는 복합문화공간의 다양한 건축 형태를 가져왔다. 셋째, 문화와 소비의 결합이다. 최근의 복합문화공간은 문화공간을 중심으로 소비기능을 갖추어 이용자들에게 편의를 제공하고 있으며, 문화기반시설을 중심으로 소비와 주거의 기능을 포함하기도 한다. 문화적 기반시설을 갖춘 상업공간은 다양한 문화연출을 통해 소비자들의 문화욕구로 충족시켜주고, 문화적 체험을 통해 소비자의 제품구매와 재방문의 가능성을 높여주고 있다. 넷째, 공공공간 조성이다. 복합문화공간은 공공성 확보를 위해 공공공간을 조성하고, 그 곳에 문화적 가치를 부여하며 주변 환경과의 조화를 통해 자연스럽게 해당 지역에 흡수되고 있다.

복합문화공간은 지역과 사회 구성원들에게 열린 공간이 되고 삶의 만족감과 휴식을 제공하는 일상 공간이 되어야 한다. 복합문화공간이 제공하는 다양한 경험은 우리에게 삶의 가치가 되고 하나의 의미가 되고 있다. 복합문화공간의 진정한 의미는 문화를 즐길 수 있는 다양한 문화계층을 형성하여 문화소비자들의 문화향유와 풍요로운 삶을 구현함에 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The age of industrialization and economic growth is gone, the age of knowledge intensive industry and cultural consumption comes in the society. As the importance of creativity, new experience, sharing in cultural industry has been highlighted, new lifestyle highly regarded with people’s amusement and sensibility has caused the significant changes in cultural consumption. This phenomenon leads to the increasing needs of cultural benefits for culture consumers in their daily life and the introduction of complex of cultural space.

It is obvious that the trend of complexity happening in other fields including culture, economics, and urban development is now becoming the greatest issue in a cultural space. Complexity in Cultural Complex has even evolved day by day. Government and corporations establish and improve infrastructure facilities for Cultural Complex, reflecting the public opinion and social changes about it. Unfortunately, however, nominal Cultural Complex which doesn’t hold the main features of ideal Cultural Complex often can be seen. Therefore, this study will define clearly the concept of Cultural Complex and examine features and key elements of it.

The main purpose of this study is to research into characteristics based on different types of Cultural Complex in contemporary society. In the second chapter, it defines the fundamental notion of Cultural Complex with theoretical considerations and look into the changes of conventional Cultural space with limited facilities, turning out contemporary multiplex Cultural space. In the third chapter, it researches the characteristics as well as a variety of forms of Cultural Complex. In the fourth chapter, it analyzes the results of case study divided on different types of Cultural Complex, additionally searches into space organization and operating programs of it.

In contemporary society, Cultural Complex is not only to embrace cultural diversity, but also to maximize efficiency with advantages from different genre to one place. The physical complexity of the space is approached with closely connected various spaces with different functions, which can result to various types of construction and architecture on Cultural Complex. People are provided with convenience due to the function of consumption in Cultural Complex. Recently, some Cultural Complex have been built with cultural infrastructure, which functioning consumption as well as residence. Commercial Space with adequate cultural facilities can satisfy consumers’cultural desires through varied cultural performances and increase the purchase of products and the possibility of revisit by enjoyable cultural experiences. Also, Cultural Complex tends to be integrated with a local area by constructing the public open space to make publicness, by placing culture in the place, and by being in harmony with local circumstances.

Cultural Complex should be a comfortable place for the residents and members of the society in order to offer a place for relaxation and performances for satisfaction. Diverse experiences Cultural Complex provides people with are taking an important role and becoming the value and meaning of people’s lives. The true meaning of Cultural Complex is the place where people with diverse tastes in culture can relish various culture together in order to enrich their life with full of amusement and sensibility.
