유치원교사들이 인식하는 과학교육 운영의 어려움

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유치원교사들이 인식하는 과학교육 운영의 어려움을 심층적으로 살펴봄으로 교사의 전문성 신장을 위한 기초적인 자료를 제공하는 데 목적이 있다.
본 연구에서 설정한 연구문제는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 유치원 교사가 인식하는 과학교육 운영에서 유아와 관련된 어려움은 무엇인가?
둘째, 유치원 교사가 인식하는 과학교육 운영에서 유치원 환경과 관련된 어려움은 무엇인가?
셋째, 유치원 교사가 인식하는 과학교육 운영에서 부모와 관련된 어려움은 무엇인가?
넷째, 유치원 교사가 인식하는 과학교육 운영에서 교사 자신과 관련된 어려움은 무엇인가?
이를 위해 서울 지역의 각기 다른 사립유치원에 종사하는 교사 6명을 대상으로 2013년 5월부터 8월까지 총 3회의 집단면담을 실시하였다. 예비면담을 통해 기초질문지를 작성하고, 이를 바탕으로 집단면담을 실시했다. 수집된 자료를 반복적 비교분석법 과정을 통해 분석하였으며, 타당성을 높이기 위한 전략으로 삼각검증법을 사용하였다.
이를 통해 얻어진 연구결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 과학교육 운영에서 유아와 관련한 어려움에는 유아의 돌발적인 질문에 따른 어려움, 유아들의 특성과 성격의 차이에 따른 어려움, 많은 유아의 수에 따른 어려움으로 나타났다.
둘째, 과학교육 운영에서 유치원(환경)과 관련한 어려움에는 고비용의 과학교재∙교구 구입의 어려움, 기본교육과정과 자체프로그램 연계의 어려움, 일과수행 시간의 제한에 따른 어려움, 유치원 원장의 신념에 따른 어려움, 동․식물 및 과학 자료 관리의 어려움으로 나타났다.
셋째, 과학교육 운영에서 학부모와 관련한 어려움에는 과학자료 준비물을 챙겨 주지 않아 생기는 어려움, 과학 교육에 대한 부모의 몰이해와 인식부족에 따른 어려움으로 나타났다.
넷째, 과학교육 운영에서 교사자신과 관련한 어려움에는 과학교과에 대한 교사의 불안감에 따른 어려움, 과학 및 과학교육에 대한 교사의 부정적인 감정 및 태도에 따른 어려움, 과학 및 과학교육에 대한 과학적 지식 부족에 따른 어려움, 특성화교육이 과학교육을 대신한다는 교사의 인식에 따른 어려움, 과학영역의 운영 부재에 따른 교사의 인식 부족에 따른 어려움으로 나타났다.
이상의 결과를 바탕으로 과학교육에 대한 유치원 교사의 인식이 여전히 어렵다는 것을 알 수 있으며, 이를 해결하기 위해 다양한 차원의 과학 연수 및 과학교육프로그램의 개발 및 보급이 필요함을 시사해주고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was for providing a basic data to develop the professionality to kindergarten teachers thorough the difficulty about operation of science education by researching in-depth.
For that purpose, the study set the following research question:
1. What is a kindergarten teacher's difficulty about operation of science education associated with child?
2. What is a kindergarten teacher's difficulty about operation of science education associated with environment of kindergarten?
3. What is a kindergarten teacher's difficulty about operation of science education associated with parent?
4. What is a kindergarten teacher's difficulty about operation of science education associated with teacher(oneself)?
Researcher interviewed 6 teachers who working different private kindergartens of Seoul for three times from May 2013 to August 2013. Make a interview guide through preliminary interview and then take a semi-structured interview through interview guide. Collected data was analyzed by constant comparison method and used triangulation for ensuring validity.
Results of this study were as follows:
First, teacher's difficulty about operation of science education associated with child was the difficulty about unexpected questions of child, the difficulty about differences in the characteristics and nature of child, the difficulty according to the number of many child.
Second, teacher's difficulty about operation of science education associated with environment of kindergarten was the difficulty about purchase expensive science teaching material, the difficulty about connection between basic curriculum and own curriculum, the difficulty about time limit of daily task, the difficulty about belief of kindergarten director, the difficulty about management of animals, plants and science material.
Third, teacher's difficulty about operation of science education associated with parent was the difficulty about don't take care of science preparation material, the difficulty about lack of understanding of science education.
Fourth, teacher's difficulty about operation of science education associated with teacher oneself was the difficulty about anxiety of science, the difficulty about negative feelings and attitudes of science education, the difficulty about lack of scientific knowledge, the difficulty about lack of recognition for science education.
Based on the result, we can know that the kindergarten teacher's recognition for science education is still difficult. So to solve this problem, we need a various science education training program's development and dissemination.
