대학생의 다양성 수용도가 창의성에 미치는 영향 : 협동학습역량과 폐기학습역량의 매개효과 = The impact of university students' openness to diversity on creativity

The purpose of this study is to examine an impact of university students' openness to diversity on creativity, cooperative learning competency, and unlearning competency, and the mediating effect of cooperative learning competency and unlearning competency. To do this, two research questions were established. First, do university students' openness to diversity affect their creativity? Second, how the cooperative learning competency and unlearning competency affect the relationship between openness to diversity and creativity.
To verify these research questions, this study set the openness to diversity as a dependant variable and creativity as a independent variable, then set two mediating variables which were cooperative learning competency and unlearning competency.
The target population for this study is university students from seven different universities. The survey was conducted for 12days from October 7, 2013 to October 17, 2013, and this study used convenience sampling method and distributed 600 questionnaires. After eliminating incomplete and insincere reponses, 533 out of 600 responses were used fo data analysis.
The results of this empirical study are as follows: First, there are statistically significant co-relations among the all variables. Second, openness to diversity of university students has a positive effect on cooperative learning competency, unlearning competency, and creativity of university students. Third, cooperative learning competency, unlearning competency have positive effect on students' creativity. This shows that the more students enhance their cooperative learning competency and unlearning competency, the more students develop their creativity. Fourth, cooperative learning competency and unlearning competency have mediating effect on the relationship between openness to diversity and creativity. Fifth, unlearning competency has a mediating effect on the relationship between openness to diversity and cooperative learning competency.
This study suggests the following implications to cultivate creative people in universities. First, it is necessary to develop the curricula and programs that help student to understand and embrace the diversity. Secondly, it is required to design the teaching method that can encourage students to develop various learning competencies. Thirdly, since the unlearning competency should be developed and used throughout one's life, teaching model that can enhance the unlearning competency should be developed. Fourth, the programs and education system for promoting students' creativity should be provided because the creativity can be enhanced by interaction with individual's characteristics, resources and environment. Moreover, if the openness to diversity, cooperative learning competency, and unlearning competency would be considered when the programs for creativity are developed, the programs must be more effective and appropriate.
University students can build the core competencies to be globally qualified talents under the appropriate educational policy and system. Therefore, universities should prepare and provide proper learning environment and educational systematic support.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 국내의 대학생들을 대상으로 다양성을 수용하는 정도가 협동학습역량, 폐기학습역량, 창의성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 파악하고, 다양성 수용도가 협동학습역량과 폐기학습역량을 매개로 하여 창의성에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 검증하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 두 가지의 연구문제를 설정하였다. 첫 번째는 대학생의 다양성 수용도는 창의성에 영향을 미치는지에 대한 것이며, 두 번째는 대학생의 협동학습역량과 폐기학습역량이 다양성 수용도와 창의성의 관계에서 매개효과를 갖는지 알아보기 위한 것이다.
연구문제를 해결하기 위하여 대학생들이 다양성을 받아들이는 정도를 독립변인으로, 대학생들의 창의성을 종속변인으로 하고, 협동학습역량과 폐기학습역량을 매개변인으로 하는 연구 모형을 구성하였다. 이 연구에서는 서울과 지방에 소재하고 있는 4년제 대학교의 재학생들을 연구대상으로 선정하였으며, 편의적 표집방법을 통해 사례 수를 확보하였다. 서울 소재 대학 3곳, 강원 소재 대학 1곳, 충북 소재 대학 2곳, 경남 소재 대학 1곳, 총 7개 대학교의 전공 및 교양수업을 듣는 대학생을 대상으로 2013년 10월 7일부터 10월 17일까지 12일 간 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 총 600부를 배부하여 583부(97.1%)를 회수하였으며, 이중 불성실한 답변을 한 50부의 설문을 제외하고 총 533(88.8%)명의 답변을 실제 분석에 사용하였다.
분석과정을 거쳐 도출된 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 이 연구의 변인들 간의 관계는 모두 통계적으로 유의미한 상관관계를 나타냈다. 둘째, 대학생의 다양성 수용도는 협동학습역량, 폐기학습역량, 그리고 창의성에 유의미한 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 개인이 다양성을 이해하고 받아들이는 성향이 높을수록 학습 집단 내에서 공동의 목표를 성취하기 위해 노력하고자 하는 협동학습역량과 변화를 받아들이기 위해 기존의 쓸모없는 지식을 버리고 새로운 지식을 을 학습하고자 하는 폐기학습역량이 증진된다는 것을 의미한다. 셋째, 협동학습역량과 폐기학습역량은 창의성에 유의미한 긍정적 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다. 이것은 대학생의 협동학습역량과 폐기학습역량이 증진될수록 창의성도 증진된다는 것을 의미한다. 특히 폐기학습역량은 협동학습역량 보다 창의성에 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 다양성 수용도와 창의성의 관계에서 폐기학습역량과 협동학습역량의 매개효과를 분석한 결과, 폐기학습역량과 협동학습역량은 모두 유의미한 매개효과를 갖는 것으로 확인되었다. 다섯째, 다양성 수용도와 협동학습역량의 관계에서 폐기학습역량의 매개효과를 분석한 결과 다양성 수용도가 협동학습역량에 미치는 영향에 있어서 폐기학습역량은 유의한 매개효과를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 폐기학습역량은 다양성 수용도와 협동학습역량의 관계에서 부분매개의 효과가 있는 것으로 확인되었다.
이 연구에서 도출 된 연구 결과를 기반으로 이 연구가 제시하는 시사점과 제언은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생들의 창의성 증진을 위해서는 학생들이 다양성을 이해하고 수용할 수 있도록 돕는 프로그램이나 커리큘럼의 개발이 필요하다. 둘째, 대학생들의 다양한 학습역량을 개발할 수 있는 수업방식의 도입이 필요하다. 이 연구를 통하여 대학생들의 창의성 증진을 위해 협동학습역량과 폐기학습역량이 중요한 역할을 하는 요인이라는 것이 밝혀졌다. 셋째, 학습역량의 하나인 폐기학습역량 증진을 위한 교육적 차원의 강의개발이 필요하다. 폐기학습은 그 중요성이 강조되는 것에 비해 교육현장에서 어떻게 실천되고 있는지와 관련한 학술적 보고는 부족한 편이다. 개인의 폐기학습역량이 평생에 걸쳐 필요하게 되는 역량이라는 점을 생각할 때 폐기학습역량 증진을 위한 교육적 접근은 꼭 필요한 부분이다. 넷째, 이 연구에서 창의성은 개인의 특성만이 아닌 자원, 환경 등과 상호작용함으로써 증진될 수 있는 것으로 정의되었다. 그러므로 대학생들의 창의성 증진을 위한 교육 환경의 제공과 프로그램 개발이 필요하다. 또한 창의성 증진을 위한 프로그램의 개발을 하는데 있어 이러한 다양성의 경험과 수용, 그리고 협동학습역량과 폐기학습역량의 증진 등을 고려한다면 더욱 효과적인 프로그램이 완성될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
창의적 인재가 갖추어야 할 개인의 역량은 단시간에 만들어지는 것이 아니고, 올바른 교육적 정책과 제도 아래 장기적으로 축적되어야 비로소 지닐 수 있게 되는 것이다. 그러므로 대학은 학생들이 시대가 요구하는 다양성 수용, 창의성 등의 역량을 키워나갈 수 있도록 올바른 학습문화 조성 및 프로그램을 제공하는데 집중할 필요가 있다. 나아가 대학이 올바른 학습문화를 조성할 수 있도록 국가적 차원에서의 정책적, 제도적 지원이 마련되어야 할 것이다.
