As quality of life is improving and average length of life is increasing, the needs of medical service is extended to the prevention and early detection of diseases and health care beyond the traditional treatment of disease. Therefore, customers consider the higher standards of medical team, a differentiated service, and a better follow-up service in selection of medical institute.
Medical service which is provided by the medical institutes is primarily intangible and is differentiated from the service engaged in the product. Customers evaluates the medical service as the total experience which is perceived during conducting the medical service. Medical institutes are also trying to manage customer experience from the clues occurring in every stage of customer encounters.
This study classified the clues of medical service as three types: functional clues, physical clues, and humanic clues. After then, this study investigated the effect of each clue on service value and customer satisfaction. This study conducted empirical analysis to verify hypotheses and finally collected 127 questionnaires from inpatients and their family members. As a results of multiple regression analysis, this study found that doctor's and institutional service, the convenience and safety of physical facility, and empathy to the patients affected to service value and then, service value affected to customer satisfaction. Thus, it could be concluded that the managing customer's experiential clues is very critical to the success of medical institutes.
