Two non-marine reptile specimens, KDRC-BB4 and KDRC-BB5, were previously collected by the research team of Chonnam National University, Korea Dinosaur Research Center, during the excavation of the Boseong Bibong-ri Dinosaur egg site. After the excavation, the two fossil specimens were misclassified, KDRC-BB4 as testudine and KDRC-BB5 as crocodylia. New morphological study results (this thesis) clearly shows that these specimens are Varanoids. Specimen KDRC-BB4 features some characters of the clade Helodermatidae such as: absence of palatine teeth, absence of pterygoid teeth, absence of a dentary shelf, and presence of scapulocoracoid. Specimen KDRC-BB5 features "modified pleurodont" dentition, a character that defines the clade Monstersauria. The specimen also share some similar morphological characters of other monstersaurian species such as long low facial process, long retracted anterior narial margin, anteromedial flange of maxilla extending toward the midline, trenchant teeth spaced in weak pleurodonty with plicidentine at the base. Since the two lizard specimens were discovered from a dinosaur nesting site, it is possible to think that these predatory lizards may have preyed upon the eggs of dinosaurs. Also, both specimens are the first lizard fossils to be reported in Korea.
