A study on the ideographic and phonetic theory of naming

This research started with a purpose of studying deeper on ideographic and phonetic theory of naming, and also to pointed out problems and limitations so that improvements would be made based on the found problems.
Regardless of time and place, numerous people have recognized the importance of naming, and they have tried their best to make the best names because they believed that name really affects destiny.
There are two main ideas that support the fact that naming really works with destiny; absolute theory and relative theory. Since there are two ideas, it is not clearly approved that which of the two ideas are more trustworthy and valid.
The study dealt with origin and specification of naming, characteristic of yin and yang which is based on the naming. This study first started to have more detailed fundamental and supplemental ideas of naming with purposes with many literatures, and researched characteristic of yin and yang based on the naming.
In the fist chapter of this thesis, purpose of this study and methods of research are proposed.
In the second chapter of this thesis, origin and features of naming are proposed.
In the third chapter of this thesis, meanings and specification of ideographic theory of naming are proposed.
In the fourth chapter of this thesis, phonetic meaning and features are proposed.
In the final chapter of this thesis, problems of naming theory are proposed, conditions of qualified naming theory are proposed.
Through this study above, we realized the problems and future direction of development in study of naming. By searching for the problems from ideographic theory, we identified three things.
First, there is a lack of evidence of decision on fortune-misfortune in 81 numbering theory. Second, there is an ambiguity in basis of application to unused Chinese characters. Third, no systematic theory for making a good name was confirmed in naming because the application method of numbering for a specific Chinese character varies.
From the problems in the study of phonetic theory, we also realized that there is no systematic theory in choosing one either phonetic or ideographic factor when we apply to the five elements of Chinese characters. In applying to sound five elements of Hangul, five elements in naming and Hun-min-jung-um hae-rye-bon vary, so that there are some different opinions on the application of phonetic or ideographic factor when we name someone.
By conducting this research, therefore, we suggest that the concrete rational and integrated theoric system should be established in naming in order to be credited by others, and in the future, in-depth analysis would be continued to compensate the incomplete parts from this research.
