The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of career decision-making self-efficacy in the relationship between parental attachment and dysfunctional career thought of high school students.
The participants of this study included 345 high school students in Gyeongnam(Average age 16.88, Male 108, Female 237).
For data analysis, the use of correlational analysis, regression analysis. Results showed the followings:
First, there was significant correlations among parental attachment, dysfunctional career thought and career decision-making self-efficacy. Second, dysfunctional career thought were negatively affected by parent attachment and career decision-making self-efficacy. Third, career decision-making self-efficacy was found to have a partial mediation effect on the relationship between dysfunctional career thought and parental attachment. Therefore, parental attachment not only directly influenced dysfunctional career thought but also indirectly influenced dysfunctional career thought through decision-making self-efficacy.
