This study is aimed to examine whether group art therapy has some effects on ego-resilience of middle school students with School Maladjustment.
20 students who went to 3th grade U - Middle School in P city were selected to be the subjects of this study. They were selected among those who were requested by their classroom teacher because of maladjustment and whose score of ego resiliency obtained 130 points and below, and wish to participate In this group art therapy program. They are divided into two groups composed of 10 members resigned randomly. Each group includes an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received a total of 12 sessions, each session 60 minutes, once a week from March to May 2013. The controlled group didn't participate in the program.
The ego-resilience questionnaires used in this study were developed by Park Eun-Hee(1996) based on O'connell-Higgins(1983), Block and Kremen(1996) study, and then revised complemented by Sin ji-yeon (2004) into Likert 5 score scale with the 35 items.
And then the resulting data were analyzed by the SPSS/WIN+20 program to check the changes of before and after practicing the program.
Consequently, group art therapy showed an effect on improving the ego-resilience and sub-factors (interpersonal relations, viability, feeling control, curiosity, optimism) of Middle School Students with School Maladjustment.
