The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of group art therapy on aggressiveness of children in low income family. For this purpose, children in welfare recipients family and near poverty family who attending local children center were selected as subjects. Among these children, 20 students who scored over 80 on aggression scale for elementary students and aged over 10 under 13 was selected.
The subjects divided into 10 experimental group and 10 control group, and the session was conducted from March to May, once a week, 60 minutes sessions, totally 12 session. To examine the effects of group art therapy, Aggression test made by Lee, Eun-Ah(2011) was used to compare the pre and post score, and repeated measure ANOVA and t-test were used to verify the differences of experimental effects between experimental and control group.
The results of this study were as follows:
First, group art therapy reduced total aggressiveness of children in low income family.
Second, group art therapy reduced behavioral aggressiveness, anger, hostility which is sub-factors of aggressiveness.
Concludingly, group art therapy could be assumed that has an effect of reducing total aggressiveness and sub-factors of aggressiveness.
