가정에서 유아 스마트폰사용실태와 어머니의 허용과 인식 : 계양구 유아를 대상으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 유아의 스마트폰 사용 실태와 어머니의 배경 변인에 따른 유아 스마트폰 이용에 대한 허용과 인식이 어떠한지에 대해 조사함으로써, 연령별 적합한 스마트폰 사용에 대한 교육적 시사점과 부모들의 특성에 맞춘 올바른 사용의 기초자료를 제공함을 목적으로 한다.
이상의 연구 목적을 위해 설정한 연구문제는 다음과 같다.
1. 가정에서 유아의 스마트폰 사용 실태는 어떠한가?
2. 가정에서 유아의 스마트폰 사용에 대한 어머니의 배경변인에 따라 어떤 차이를 보이는가?
본 연구는 가정에서 유아의 스마트폰 사용 실태 및 어머니의 배경 변인에 따른 어머니의 허용과 인식을 살펴보고자 인천광역시 계양구에 위치한 만4~5세 어머니들 200명을 대상으로 하였다.
본 연구에서 사용한 질문지는 유아 컴퓨터 인터넷 활용에 대한 실태를 연구한 선행연구(강금식, 2006; 장수진, 2010)의 설문지를 토대로 본 연구 목적에 맞게 본인이 수정하여 사용하였다.
본 연구에서 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 유아들은 주로 주말 동안에 가정에서, 형제와 스마트폰을 일주일에 1~2회 정도 하는 것으로 나타났으며, 1회 평균 사용 시간은 30분 이내이었다. 1회 이용시간에 있어서는 성별 간 차이가 있었으며, 만4~5세 남 ․ 여 유아 모두 게임 활동을 가장 즐겨 하는 것으로 나타났다. 어머니들은 유아와 함께 스마트폰을 이용하여 동화를 많이 보는 반면, 아버지와 형제와 함께 할 경우 게임 활동을 가장 많이 하는 것으로 나타나 주로 함께하는 사람에 따라 이용 내용에 차이를 보였다. 어머니들은 유아가 스마트폰에 대해 흥미를 느끼기 때문에 스마트폰을 사용하도록 허용하며, 상황에 따라 아이와 함께 결정해서 사용한다.
둘째, 어머니들은 스마트폰이 불필요하다고 느끼는 응답이 많았으며 그 이유는 장기간 사용으로 인해 전자파나 시각적 피해가 우려하는 것으로 나타났다. 필요한 이유는 시대적 흐름에 뒤처지지 않도록 하기 위해서라는 인식이 가장 높게 나타났다. 이는 어머니의 학력이 높을수록 스마트폰은 학습적인 면에 도움이 되기 때문에 필요하다고 인식하는 반면, 학력이 낮을수록 부모를 귀찮게 하지 않고 혼자 놀 수 있기 때문이라고 응답하여 차이를 나타냈었다.
또한 어머니들은 유아의 스마트폰 사용효과에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인은 가정에서 어머니의 관심 정도라고 응답하였다. 이는 가정의 월수입에 따라 소득이 높을수록 유아가 사용하는 앱의 질이 가장 높다고 응답한 반면, 소득이 낮을수록 유아의 스마트폰 사용 시간 및 방법이 사용효과에 영향을 많이 미친다고 응답하여 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 또한 어머니들은 유아가 스마트폰을 사용할 때 유해사이트를 차단하는 프로그램이 필요하다고 하였다. 어머니들이 유아가 스마트폰을 이용하는 것에 대한 가장 큰 고민거리는 시간 조절의 어려움인 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to offer educational significance on age related smart phone use and basic data for the proper smart phone use according to mothers' characteristics by investigating the smart phone usage of preschoolers and permission and cognition based on mothers' background variables
The following research questions were posed:
1. What is the smart phone use of preschoolers like at home?
2. What is the difference of smart phone use like according to mothers' background variables?
The subjects of this study were 200 mothers in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon who have 4-6 years old child to investigate the smart phone usage of preschoolers and permission and cognition based on mothers' background variables at home.
This study is based on the survey of the advanced research on the computer internet use of the preschoolers(Kang, Gem-sik, 2006, Jang, Su-jin, 2010).
The findings of the study collected according to the research questions were as follows:
1. Preschoolers usually used the smart phone with their siblings averagely 30 minutes 1-2 times a week on weekend at home.
There was the gender difference in mean hours of use between boys and girls, plus, both 3-4 years old boys and girls used their smart phone the most to play the games. Mothers of the preschoolers mostly read the fairy tales with their children using the smart phone, while fathers and siblings play the games, which shows the difference in using the phone according to whom the preschoolers are with.
Mothers permitted the children to use the phones because they were interested in them and decided whether to use or not the phone situationally with their children together.
2. Most of the mothers responded the smart phone was unnecessary because they worried about electromagnetic waves and impaired vision of the children. But, they also responded the smart phone was necessary because they didn't want their children to be behind the times. The higher level of education mothers had, they thought the smart phone was necessary because they are helpful for the study. Whereas, the lower level of education mothers had, they need the smart phone because their children could play alone without annoying them. .
Also, mothers responded the major factor affecting the smart phone use of the preschooler was mothers' degree of concerning. The higher income the mothers had, they thought the quality of the application used by the preschoolers was too. Whereas, the lower income they had, they responded the mean hours of use and the way of use of the smart phone contributed much to effect of use of the smart phone. And mothers felt the necessity of the programs which block access to harmful websites. Mothers' biggest worry was the difficulty in controling the hours of use of the smart phone.
