The purpose of this study was to investigate variables which affect on perceived happiness level of parents of preschoolers with disabilities and the difference between mothers and fathers on happiness level according to children and parents' demographic variables. To this end, this study was conducted by 93 parents who raise 1 ~ 8 year old preschoolers with disabilities in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do. The questionnaire used in the study was based on Happiness sub-factors of Kim, M. S. et al., (2003) and seligman(2011). For data analysis according to variables, t-test, MANOVA, Multiple Regression Analysis were used.
The findings of the study were as follows:
First, in case of happiness perceived level of the fathers, there was no difference which it follows in children' demographic variables. However, the result of this study revealed that Educational background, the number of children, occupation and monthly average income of the fathers effected happiness of the fathers, especially for production worker.
Second, in case of happiness perceived level of the mothers, there were significant differences according to children' demographic variables such as children age, types of disability, disability diagnosis time and parents' demographic variables such as Educational background, the number of children, monthly average income, religion of the mothers.
Particularly, monthly average income, religion, sensory disability, health impairment, physical disability and multiple disabilities effected happiness of the mothers.
Third, the result of this study revealed that happiness perceived level of the father was significantly higher than the mothers.
Based on these findings, it provides the fundamental data for the program and the direction of social support to promoting happiness of parents of preschoolers with disabilities.
