The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of rejection sensitivity on dating violence perpetration and mediation effect of empathy and responsibility attribution over dating violence perpetration. 348 university students(110 men, 248 women) participated in completing the surveys, which used The Rejection Sensitivity Questionnaire(RSQ), Interpersonal Reactivity Index(IRI), The Relationship Attribution Measure(RAM), The Revised Conflict Tactic Scale(CTS-2)to measure the variables.
The results of this study were the following: First, the gender difference of psychological and physical violence perpetration rate was not significant and men's sexual perpetration rate were higher than that of women. Second, there were significant mediation effect on the relation between rejection sensitivity and dating violence perpetration. The indirect effect of empathy and responsibility attribution were significant. In the case of empathy, only cognitive empathy had significant mediation effect. Third, there were gender differences in relation path. In terms of men, rejection sensitivity had negative effect on dating violence perpetration and the medication effect of empathy was not significant. In terms of women, the effect of rejection sensitivity on dating violence perpetration was not significant.
In conclusion, the implication, limitation, future research direction were discussed.
