      The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parents and children communication, and how it affected the children socially and adapting to middle school life. Also to define the importance of communication between parents and children in an attempt to find out the most desirable way for parents and children to communicate.
      Also, the roles of fathers are getting more important, this phenomenon will be examined. What is the difference between the communication of fathers and mothers with their children. Does the mother and father's communication have an effect on their children's sociality and adaptation to school life?

      To achieve this goal the following three questions were asked.
      First, Are parents and children communication and sociality related?
      Second, Are parents and children communication related to the adaptation to school life for middle school students related?
      Third, Is there a difference between the fathers and children, and mothers and children communication when it comes to the sociality, and adaptation to school life?
      The subjects in this study were 321 first grade middle school students who lived in Cheongju city, They were examined by the tests of parents-children communication, sociality and adaptation to school life. After the examination 299 pages of tests were analyzed by SPSS.
      The results of the research are as follows.
      First, in the relationship between parents and children when it came to sociality the following was found. Children who had more communication with their parents were more likely to be social, than students who had less communication with their parents. It showed that positive and open communication between parents and children had mutual and meaningful effect on their children's social life.
      Second, in the relationship between parents and children when it came to adaptation to school life the following was found. Children who had more communication with their parents had a easier time adapting to school life, than children who had little communication with their parents. It shows that adaptation to school life will improve if there is open communication between parents and children. Also adaptation can be improved if parents and children can freely express their own feelings and opinions. Children had a harder time when communication was a problem or strained.
      Third, it seems there is no difference which the level of fathers communication, and mothers communication affects on sociality, Not only mothers, but fathers are also expected to be responsible for raising children since there have been many changes with our life style. The increasing number of working mothers, nuclear families, and the decreasing number of children have all impacted this.
      Fourth, there is no difference between the level of fathers communication and mother communication on adaptation to school life. The relationship level of fathers communication is a little ahead of the relationship level of mothers communication when it comes to adaptation of school life.
      As seen above the results proved that communication between parents and children are very meaningful when it comes to sociality and adaptation to school life. It shows open communication, and animated communication can improve sociality, and adaptation to school life, The research shows that it is necessary to develop a desirable way to communicate. Also it is necessary to pay attention to fathers and children communication something that has not received much attention before.
