This research studied student's conceptual change of the lunar motion and the lunar phases among the contents of the earth science. For this study, it is analyzed whether students know the reason why the moon rises and falls and the situation and the cause of changes on the lunar phases. The interviewees were chosen from elementary school, middle school, and high school. They were asked to answer two questions as mentioned above. Based on the interview, it is analyzed that how the conception was changed and which misconception was never changed from the lower grades to the upper grades.
The results is as follows. Students depended on memorization of most concepts rather than construction of accurate conception as they grow. They have a discordance between their words and explaining those words with painting and action. It means that they just recall their memorization when they explain the concepts. Because there are many two dimensional pictures on textbooks, they lack the formation of spatial concept. Therefore spatial teaching and learning method is required for precise understanding of the lunar motion and the changes on the lunar phases.
