1950년대 할리우드 영화에서 나타난 영화연기 스타일 분석 연구 : 아메리칸 액팅 메소드를 중심으로 = A study on analysis of film acting style in 1950's hollywood : focusing on American acting method

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 1950년대 할리우드 영화에서 나타나는 영화연기 스타일을 분석한 것이다. 1950년대 ‘아메리칸 액팅 메소드’는 배우들의 인기가 높아지면서 당대 아이콘으로 부상하게 된다. 1920년대에 시작된 아메리칸 액팅 메소드는 비로소 1950년대에 빛을 바라기 시작한다. 그 빛은 현재까지도 영화연기의 주축으로 자리 잡고 있는 아메리칸 액팅 메소드로 발현되고 있다. 영화연기의 근간을 이루는 아메리칸 액팅 메소드의 다양성을 1950년대 할리우드 영화를 통해 분석해보고자 한다.
첫 번째는 ‘연극에서 파생된 연기’로 캐릭터의 외적부분의 강조, 정형화된 연기, 앵글로 부각되는 캐릭터를 분석한다. 두 번째는 프레임이라는 제한적인 틀 안에서 어떻게 변화, 발전 양상과, 고정된 이미지를 구축하게 된 스타의 고정적 연기를 분석한다. 마지막으로 아메리칸 액팅 메소드를 크게 일상성의 리얼리티를 강조한 연기, 과장성 짙은 연기를 감소시키는 즉흥성, 주어진 상황 속에서 내적 진실성의 표출, 감각의 기억과 정서적 기억으로 발현되는 캐릭터 성격 구축의 예로 분류하여 영화에 적용된 양상을 고찰해본다.
스타니슬랍스키 시스템에서 시작된 아메리칸 액팅 메소드는 전자와 상당부분 중첩되기도 하면서, 상이하게 다른 이론을 주장한다. 비슷한 면을 보이는 두 이론은 각각 본연의 정체성을 가지고 있음에도 불구하고 한국에서는 불행하게도 이 두 가지 이론은 혼용되어지기도 한다.
한국영화의 위상이 높아지면서 영화연기예술에 대한 관심과 기대감과 높아지고 있다. 이러한 한국의 현실에서 영화연기의 주축인 아메리칸 액팅 메소드의 원천을 찾고 그에 맞는 발전 방안을 도모하는 것을 목표로 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to analyze the film acting style, based on the hollywood movies in the 1950s. ‘American acting method’ in the 1950s was emerged as an icon of the day with actors became famous. Its use began in the 1920s, but it was not until the 1950s that first coming to the attention among public. This technique has continued into American acting method that plays key role in film acting up to now. In this study, there will be analysis from 1950's hollywood movies on the variety of American acting method, which is the foundation of film acting.
First analysis is on emphasis upon external talents of the character from ‘theater-derived acting’, standardized acting and the character recognized by angle. Second analysis is on actor's steady acting; how he changed, developed and built up his steady image with limited opportunity of ‘frame’. And the last is the study on aspects of American acting method, applied to film by categorizing several examples; acting that concentrates on reality of daily life, spontaneity that diminishes the exaggerated acting, expression of internal truth in the given circumstances, and formation of character's personality from sense memory and emotional memory.
American acting method, first derived from Stanislavski's System, overlaps considerably its origin, but claims slightly different theories. Although each of two theories have their own identity, they are often confused in Korea.
People's interest and expectation on art in film and acting are growing, as the status of Korean film has been growing. The purpose of this study is to find the origin of American acting method, which plays key role in Korean film, and promote the development plan for it.
