The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of an anger control program using game-play on ADHD symptoms, anger, aggression, social skills, self-control, and behavior regulation on children with ADHD.
For the current study, the participants (12 children), were drawn from the second and third grades of 2 elementary schools located in Seoul. They were recommended by their teachers due to significant anger control difficulties, aggressive behaviors and ADHD symptoms. Also, the parents (of all 12) consented to allow their children to participate in this study. The children were then administered the Abbreviated Conners Teacher Rating Scale and the Korean Wechsler Intelligence Scales for Children-Ⅲ(K-WISC-Ⅲ). To be eligible for the study, students must score at least 17 points or higher on the Abbreviated Conners Teacher Rating Scale and have an IQ of 80 or higher for the K-WISC-Ⅲ. Finally, six of the twelve children were assigned into a treatment group and the other six children were put onto a waiting list as a control group. The subjects were grouped on the basis of intact schools they were attending.
In order to examine the effects of the anger control program using game-play, pre- and post-test had been conducted using Diagnostic Test of Aggression, Social Skills Rating System (SSRS), Self Control Rating Scales (SCRS), Children's Inventory of Anger Inventory (ChIA), and Behavior Observation Rating Scales developed by the researcher.
As for the anger control program using game-play in this study, it had been reconstructed by the researcher based on the Plaza for Youth Dialog (1995)‘s the cognitive, emotional and behavioral anger control program, the game-play list for ADHD children used in the study of Yoon Ji-hyeon (2007), Han Cha-jeong (2012), and Hong Sang-Hwang & Lee Mi-Kyeong's (2007) anger-inducing situations list that the children frequently experience in school. The anger control program using game-play consisted of 12 sessions was provided to the treatment group twice a week for 6 weeks while no program was delivered to the waiting-list control group.
To analyze the data, two-way ANOVAs with repeated measure and paired t test as a post-hoc test were conducted by using SPSS 18.0.

The major results of this study are as follows:

First, the anger control program using game-play significantly reduced the anger provoked in situations of frustration, peer relationships, authority relations, and physical aggression.
Second, the anger control program using game-play was significantly effective in decreasing verbal aggressions and hostilities of children with ADHD.
Third, the anger control program using game-play had some positive effects on improving the social skills of children with ADHD according to parent evaluations. The social skills showed statistically significant differences between the treatment group and the control group. Also, the treatment group noted improved the social skills at the significance level of p<.10.
Fourth, the anger control program using game-play had some positive effects on self control improvement of children with ADHD according to parent evaluations. The result reveal significant differences at p<.10 on self control between the treatment group and the control group. Also, the treatment group noted significantly improved self control at the significance level of p<.10.
Fifth, the anger control program using game-play had significant effects on increasing adjustment behaviors and decreasing maladjustment behaviors of ADHD children.

Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were previously discussed. Topics to be investigated in a future study were also suggested.
