Arts and culture education has positive effects on the emotions of multicultural family's children and on establishing their identity and their relations with other people. This paper is based on a prior thesis that says the experience of the education has more effects on them, who have trouble with especially emotional issues, than children or juveniles whose families are not multicultural. It tries to find out the relationship between the general self-efficacy and emotional stability, language development, peer relations and school adjustment of them and to find out how these four things are related to their reasons for participation and the period of the education. Finally, it also deals with how the children and the teacher attending the education program recognize about the education.
Data was collected from surveys of 109 multicultural family's children, who took part in arts and culture education program, in two regions, using calculated Cronbach's alpha coefficient to examine the credibility related to internal consistency among measuring tools and adopting frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, principal component analysis and varimax rotation, which is a way of rotating factors on the assumption of their independence with factor rotation.
The result of this research is in the following.
First, the relations between their general self-efficacy and their emotional stability, language development and school adjustment were meaningful, with the exception of peer relations. It can be seen as the higher the general self-efficacy becomes with the education, the more it affects to emotional stability, language development and school adjustment, and only participating the education program can have positive effects on their emotional and psychological characteristics.
Secondly, their general self-efficacy was meaningful in terms of emotional stability depending on reasons for participation. This can mean that the more self-directed the participations is, the more it helps to emotional stability. In order to encourage the children's motivation to participate, developments and research of programs suited for each educational institutions are needed, and teaching methods should also be various based on exact understandings of their motivations.
Next, there was no meaningful difference between the general self-efficacy and emotional stability, language development, peer relations and school adjustment depending on educational periods. It is seen that following studies are needed for their relations.
Finally, as a result of analyzing the attending children and teachers' recognition about the effects on the education program, both of them recognized it positively, especially in terms of their willingness to participate the program again, interests to arts and culture and social skills.
As above, it turned out that the relationship between self-efficacy of multicultrual family's children and their emotional and psychological characteristics is meaningful. This paper is the first study that tries to relate them with each other a part of studies about the effectiveness of arts and cultural education for multicultural family's children and a study that presents a model proving positive effects of the education. More active quantitative and qualitative studies that considerate various factors of the education for the children and the appliance of them to the improvement of actual programs are expected.
