This thesis was driven by a critical mind of what role can the Principle of Noumenon and Phenomenon play in modern society?
Shi-shen‘s metaphor system is the reflection of universal ideology of mankind such as Tian-ren-he-yi(天人合一) in Yin-Yang and Five Elements(陰陽五行) and Xiang-sheng-Xiang-ke(相生相剋)’s rotation.
This thesis intended to explain the complex relationship of individual, household, society, etc. by using Shi-shen(十神) system. Ancient sages tried to decode the destiny of immediate relative's relationship and social status relationship by combining nature with human affairs.
They tried to understand the future by juxtaposing past experiences with the present situation.
It is found that correct prediction on serious matters of human affairs in rapidly changing world can be made with the knowledge of chronological diversity in Shi-shen. In modern society, the importance of social relationship has become more emphasized compared to that of family relationship.
It is found that individual social status rather than domestic status becomes gradually a measure to identify one's social class and that there is a tacit lesson that social class can lead us to either ascending or descending pathway through both liberal and conservative social changes.
