그림책활용 토의활동이 유아의 언어능력과 자아개념에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 그림책활용 토의활동 프로그램이 유아의 언어능력과 자아개념에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 G시에 위치한 A유치원에 재원 중인 만 5세 유아 총 50명을 대상으로 하였으며 사전검사를 통해 집단의 동질성을 확인한 후 실험을 적용하고 사후검사를 실시하였다. 검사도구로는 이경화, 고진영(2003)의 “유아용 자아개념 검사”와 이경화(2011)의 언어능력검사 도구를 사용하였으며 실험도구로는 그림책활용 토의활동 프로그램을 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS for Win17.0 프로그램으로 t-test를 실시하여 집단 간 차이 검증을 하였으며 검사도구의 신뢰도를 확인하기 위하여 cronbach 알파 계수를 산출하였다.

연구문제
1) 그림책활용 토의활동은 유아의 언어능력(어휘력, 언어이해력, 언어표현력, 언어창의성) 향상에 효과가 있을 것인가?
2) 그림책활용 토의활동은 유아의 자아개념(언어, 수학, 신체, 친구관계, 부모관계, 일반자아)향상에 효과가 있을 것인가?

연구결과는 첫째, 그림책 활용 토의활동을 실시한 실험집단이 그림책을 읽어주기만 한 통제집단 유아들 보다 언어능력 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 그림책 활용 토의활동은 유아의 자아개념향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 결론적으로 그림책활용 토의활동은 언어능력과 긍정적인 자아개념 향상에 매우 도움이 되는 효과적인 프로그램이었다는 것이 확인되었다. 따라서 그림책 활용 토의활동 프로그램이 유아교육 현장에서 전반적인 언어능력향상과 함께 긍정적인 자아개념 향상을 위해 효과적인 수업전략으로 활용해 볼 수 있음을 시사하는 것이라 하겠다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aimed to find out the effects of discussion activity
Utilizing picture books on young children’s language ability and
self-concept. Accordingly, research questions were established as
followings:
1) What is the effect of discussion activity Utilizing picture books
on the improvement of young children’s language ability (vocabulary
ability, language comprehensibility, language expression, language
creativity)?
2) What is the effect of discussion activity using picture books on
the improvement of your children’s self-concept (language, mathematics, physical body, friendship, relationship with parents,
general self)?
This study conducted a survey on a total of 50 five-year-olds in A
kindergarten located in Deokyang-gu, Goyang-si and group
homogeneity was confirmed through pre-test and an experiment was
carried out and post-test was performed.
As for the test tool, “self-concept test for young children” by Lee
Kyung-hwa and Goh Jin-yeong (2003) and the language ability test
tool by Lee Kyung-hwa (2011) and as for the experimental tool, the
picture book utilizing discussion activity program was utilized.
Collected data were tested for disparities between groups through
t-test with SPSS for Win 17.0 Program and cronbach α coefficient
was calculated to find out reliability of the test tool.
To sum up the results of this study;
First, young children in the experimental group conducted the
discussion activity using picture books were more influenced on the
improvement of their language ability than those in the control group.
Especially, it was identified with activities improving language
understanding, language expression and language creativity.
Second, it was confirmed that discussion activity using picture books
had a positive effect on the improvement of young children’s
self-concept.
As a result of this study, it confirmed that discussion activity using picture books was a program helping improve language ability
and positive self-concept.
Consequently, over an extended period of time, it would be
recommended that a more effective instructional strategy is made in
improving positive self-concept as well as overall language ability
through application of discussion ability using picture books to young
children and that of picture books including rather self-conceptive
factors.
