전통악기 거문고의 문헌학적 연구 : 그 이면적 탐색과 수용을 중심으로 = Bibliographical study of Korean traditional musical instrument, Geomungo : focusing on hidden exploration and acceptance

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

When researching the results about most of studies for symbol of Geomungo, generosity of Seonbi in Chosun Dynasty, and musical discourse of Seonbi which have been conducted, it is indicated that they have already objectificated by establishing common emotion focusing on N대-Confucianism and philosophical system of thought of traditional music. Therefore, this article intends to analyze visions of consideration in a variety of aspects, that is the dimension of cultural study.
To the name of Geomungo, it is verified that in the records of [Samguksagi] & [Akhakguebeom], it is given its spiritual value as a tool to grow human mind which intends to success the will of Heaven with the linkage with 'Bangicheonjin' which means 'true meaning of born nature' or 'returning to the initial', the ideal thought in Geum Dynasty, China. It is found that other name of Old Geum or names of Geum related to special musician replaces Geomungo in many Korean classical documents imported together with thought of Old Geum, a story related to this thought, and special contexts of sentences involving such contents, and other name of Old Geum or names of Geum related to special musician plays a role to lead entire atmosphere of sentence.
In case of borrowing parts, performing terms, master, masterpiece of Geum Dynasty, it can be shown that authors have used vocabularies or phrases involving musical/cultural thoughts, ruling culture including edification of people, and other aesthetic sense from Geum Dynasty by borrowing.
When researching the contents to transmission of Geomungo music, it seems that artistic orientation connecting three generations of Bo-Go Ok (initiator), Myeong-Deuk Sok, Geum Gui might be established under the condition of retirement, seclusion, hermit. Such artistic orientation seems to obtain the conclusion of thought in Geomungo music depending on its growing direction. However, above all things, the ultimate purpose of musician might be musical/non-musical self-perfection.
It seems that the generosity of Silla Dynasty has demonstrated individual use as a self-perfection, social use as an appreciation for the arts, and national use value as Hyeonmyojido.
In performance, it is considered that a variety of performing conditions by differing time and space were selected. It seems that various emotions which current musicians who play only decided music at certain space like stage cannot feel were performed. Also, it seems that the old musicians could perform instant music play according to the variety of conditions.
In appreciation part, it is found that it only took clear tone color and elegance of Geomungo. This seems that since music and spirit of Geomungo were essential refinement at that time, Seonbi who didn't play Geomungo well pretended to enjoy Geomungo music like this.
In example comparing with other music and sound of objects, there are the case comparing to water sound, the case comparing to wind sound, and the case comparing simultaneously to water & wind sounds.
In case of appearing Muhyeongeum, in case of Dojam's living path and his praising, it is verified that Dojam who did not know how to play Geomungo only emphasized spiritual stage. In the meanwhile, there is also negative opinions to Muhyeongeum.
To the use of Geomungo, we have researched Confucian ideas, Taoistic ideas, and wordly acceptance.
In Confucian acceptance, they intended to give people comfort by selecting the music of the King, Sun as a ruling method. In case of edification of people, it is often found that the image indicated in old story to Bokjacheon who was a follower of Confucius was transferred to poetic concept. Also, by the examples of 'Haengdangeumsul'which showed peaceful scene of Confucius and his followers, husband & wife, and family, it recommended to strive for keeping the family rules by modelling 'the happiness of Geumsul'. It is also found that Korean music is better than Chinese music and Korean music should be learnt and kept. In most cases that an acquaintance is symbolized, it is often found to express that there is no acquaintance who knows my mind and listens to the music together and thus listen to the music alone. In the item of spokesman, the sentences expressing the cases which emergencies which could be often occurred during playing Geomungo and the measures to them involve the symbolization suited to whole sentences were expressed via comparing method. In case of indicating upright, examples quoting the old story that when Jobyeon, Song Dynasty entered into the land of Chu Dynasty, he only took one Geomungo and one crane are often found.
In Taoistic acceptance, the expression to live the paths of hermits like Yanming Tao and Kang Xi and the contents to orient the life of God are often found.
In wordly acceptance, we researched by dividing into the items of appreciating, affective, leisure, emotional, and comparing acceptance to private life and excluding official aspect like manners & music and ideological, philosophical discussion.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지금껏 진행된 거문고의 상징ㆍ조선 선비의 금도ㆍ선비의 음악담론 등 대부분의 연구에 대한 결과를 살펴보면, 성리학 중심의 공통된 정서와 전통음악의 철학적 사상체계를 확립함으로써, 이미 객관화되어져 있음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 본고에서는 고찰의 시각을 여러 각도의 측면, 즉 문화연구의 차원에서 폭넓게 분석 검토하고자 한다.
거문고의 명칭의 대하여는『삼국사기』와『악학궤범』의 기록에서, 금의 이상인 ‘자연 그대로의 참뜻’, 또는 ‘처음으로의 복귀’라는 의미의 ‘반기천진(反其天眞)’과 연계되어 있어서, 하늘의 뜻을 이어받고자 하는 인간의 심성을 길러주는 도구로서의 정신적 가치가 부여되어 있다는 점이 확인되고 있다.
중국 고금의 다른 이름이나 특별한 연주가와 관련되어 있는 금의 이름들이 고금의 사상과 이에 관련된 일화, 또 그러한 내용이 수록된 문장의 특별한 문구와 함께 수입되어 많은 우리 고전문헌에서 거문고를 대신하고 있는 점과, 문장 전체의 분위기를 이끌어가는 역할을 한 점이 발견되고 있다.
금의 부품 및 연주 용어, 금의 명인, 명곡 등이 차용된 경우에서는, 이들로부터 음악적ㆍ문학적 사상과 백성교화 등의 통치 문화, 그리고 그 외의 미의식을 내재한 어휘나 문구들을 작가들이 차용하여 문장에 사용하여 왔음을 알 수 있다.
거문고 음악의 전승계보에 대한 내용을 살펴보면, 옥보고를 시점으로 속명득ㆍ귀금 선생의 3대를 이어간 예술적 성향은 은거ㆍ은둔ㆍ은일 등의 환경에서 이루어졌을 것으로 보인다. 이러한 예술적 성향은 성장방향에 따라 거문고음악 사상체계의 결론을 얻을 수 있게 될 것으로 보인다. 그러나 무엇보다도 악사로서의 궁극적인 수련의 목적은, 음악적ㆍ음악외적 자기완성이었을 것으로 보인다.
신라의 금도는 수양을 통한 자기완성이라는 개인적 효용, 풍류로서의 사회적 효용, 현묘지도로서의 국가적 효용가치를 발휘하였을 것으로 보인다.
탄주배경에서는, 시공을 달리하여 다양한 연주환경을 선택한 점이 고찰되고 있다. 무대라는 일정한 공간에서 정해진 곡을 연주하는 현행 연주가들이 느낄 수 없는, 다양한 감성을 발휘할 수 있었을 것으로 보인다. 그리고 환경의 다양함에 따른 즉흥성을 악상에 유감없이 펼칠 수 있었으리라 보인다.
감상에 있어서는 거문고의 맑은 음색과 아취만 취한 경우가 발견되고 있다. 이는 거문고의 음악과 정신에 대한 것이 필수적 교양이었을 것이므로, 거문고에 대하여 문외한인 선비들은 이와 같이 즐기는 척이라도 하였을 것으로 보인다.
다른 음악ㆍ사물의 소리와 비교한 예문에서는, 물소리에 비유한 경우ㆍ바람소리에 비유한 경우ㆍ물소리와 바람소리를 동시에 비유한 경우가 나타나고 있다.
무현금이 나타난 경우에서는, 도잠이 살아온 환경과 그를 칭송하는 경우에서는, 거문고 연주를 할 줄 모르는 사람이 정신적인 경지만 앞세우고 있는 점이 확인되고 있다. 반면, 무현금에 대한 부정적인 견해도 나타나 있다.
거문고의 효용에 대하여는 유가적 이상ㆍ도가적 이상ㆍ세속적 수용에 대하여 알아보았다.
유가적 수용에서는, 통치의 수단으로는 순임금의 음악을 선택하여, 백성들을 달래야겠다고 하였다. 백성교화가 나타난 경우에는, 공자의 제자 복자천에 대한 고사에 나타난 이미지를 시상에 옮긴 경우가 자주 발견되고 있다. 또 공자와 제자들의 화락한 풍경이 나타난 ‘행단금슬’과 부부와 가족 등을 예로 들면서, 가정에서 지켜야할 법도에 대하여는 ‘금슬의 화락’에 나타나 있는 것을 본받아 열심히 할 것을 당부하는 내용이 나타나 있다. 그리고 향악을 아악보다 낫다고 하며, 우리음악인 향악을 배워 양성하라는 경우도 발견되고 있다. 지음이 상징적으로 나타난 대부분의 경우에서는, 자신의 마음을 알아주며 같이 들어줄 지음이 없어 홀로 외롭게 듣는다고 표현한 점이 자주 발견되고 있다. 대변자의 항목에서는 거문고를 다루면서 흔히 발생할 수 있는 응급상황과 그것의 조치에 대한 내용이 문장 전체 내용에 적합한 상징성을 내포하고 있는 경우를 비유의 매개체로 하여 표현한 문장들이 발견되고 있다. 청렴함이 나타난 경우에는, 송나라 조변이 필마로 촉 땅으로 들어갈 때 거문고 한 벌과 학 한 마리만 데리고 갔던 고사를 인용한 예문들이 자주 발견되고 있다.
도가적 수용에서는, 도연명ㆍ혜강 등 은자들의 행적처럼 살아가고자 했던 표현과 신선의 삶을 지향하는 내용 등이 자주 나타나고 있다.
세속적 수용에서는, 예악 등 공적인 측면에 관한 것과 이념적ㆍ철학적인 논의를 제외한, 사적인 생활에 대한 풍류적ㆍ자위적ㆍ여가적ㆍ정서적ㆍ비유적 수용 등의 항목으로 나누어 살펴보았다.
