The objective of this study is to understand the influence of job stress, job satisfaction and burnout of counselors in youth counseling support centers on turnover intention, and make them to be absorbed in their organizations to provide clients with better service by improving counselors' positive thinking about job and life.
For this, a survey was conducted for counselors of youth counseling support centers in 20 cities and Guns of Gyeongsangnam-do, under Ministry of Gender Equality & Family. Among the total 83 questionnaires distributed, the 82 of them were used for the final analysis. By using SPSS 18.0 for data processing, t-test, one way ANOVA, correlation analysis and linear regression analysis were carried out.
In accordance with the objective of this study, the research questions were set up like below.
First, what is the difference between variables in accordance with general characteristics of youth counselors.
Second, what is the influence of job stress and job satisfaction of youth counselors on burnout?
Third, what is the influence of job stress, job satisfaction and burnout of youth counselors on turnover intention?
The results of this study can be summarized like below.
First, in the results of analyzing the relation between demographic variables of the subjects, job stress and turnover intention had no significant difference between two sexes while job satisfaction and burnout showed significant difference between two sexes.
Second, in the results of analyzing the relation between demographic variables of the subjects, there were no significant differences in the relation between variables in accordance with academic background, position, religion, working area and age.
Third, it was also found that turnover intention gets lower when job satisfaction gets higher.
Fourth, in the results of regression analysis for understanding the influence of youth counselors' job stress and job satisfaction on burnout, job stress and job satisfaction were shown to be the variables that had influence on burnout. Thus burnout is influenced by when job stress gets higher or job satisfaction gets lower.
Fifth, in the results of regression analysis for understanding the influence of youth counselors' job stress, job satisfaction and burnout on turnover intention, turnover intention was not directly influenced by when job stress gets higher and job satisfaction gets lower. However, job stress and job satisfaction had influence on burnout while burnout had influence on turnover intention.
