Recently as Korea has developed economically, standard of life is raised and the five-day workweek system is expanded, day by day we are more interested in leisure time; especially we emphasize the importance on the culture.
This phenomenon lead to increasing demand of performing art, and unlike the past performing art is not luxury but common in our life.
These culture and art has a great ripple effect such as not only helps to develop itself but also enhances other related industries. In the service industry, particularly, entertainment industries supplying enjoyment and spectacle to modern people are soaring up.
Today performing place is more than the theater where simply performance is displayed. It plays a important role as the cultural service space where people can take a rest and recover their composure.
For this reason, in order to strengthen the competition as the cultural service space and to attract the customers constantly, every performing place tries to supply high quality service.
To keep good relationship between consumers and providers and to satisfy the need of consumers, it is essential to understand about the consumers and acquire the exact information.
Therefore, I conducted this study, realizing the importance of consumer satisfaction to expand the consumption of performance.
I searched the data on the Internet and this survey was carried to free or charged 1000 members of men and women over 20s in Sejong Center for the Performing Arts from July, 5 to July, 18, 2011. Among them, excluding invalid answer sheets, I conducted Theoretical Empirical Analysis with 992 valid answer sheets.
I analyzed the satisfaction according to the demographic factor of members in Sejong Center for the Performing Arts.
This study is researched to draw the solutions to improve the facilities for the consumer satisfaction in the future.
The results of this study are following:
First, after analyzing the answers demographically, we found that white-collar women from 30s to 40s in Kang-buk often visit the performing place to see the performance.
Second, to figure out the differences in the satisfaction of the facilities according to the gender, we conducted t-test. As a result, the significant differences are shown in satisfaction of performing facilities and Food-Beverage facilities according to the gender. It showed Men are more satisfied.
The satisfaction of the educational facilities are not quite different.
Third, to figure out the differences in the satisfaction of the facilities according to the age, one way layout analysis of variance was conducted.
As a result, the satisfaction of the performing facilities is significantly different according to the ages, while the satisfaction of the Food-Beverage facilities and educational facilities are not quite different according to ages groups.
Fourth, to figure out the differences in the satisfaction of the facilities according to the frequence of the cultural life, one way layout analysis of variance was conducted.
As a result, the frequence of the cultural life affected neither of them(the satisfaction of the performing facilities, the satisfaction of Food-Beverage facilities nor the satisfaction of educational facilities)
Based on the result of the research, I suggest some improvements of the facilities for the satisfaction of the performance like these;
First, according to this research, sound and the lighting are the most influential factors on the performance facilities. Following them are scale of the stage, convenient facilities inside and outside, seat and passage, parking lot.
Customers are highly satisfied with the other factors except parking lot because the theater has been gradually improved since 2003. On the other hand, because now Sejong Center for the Performing Arts doesn't own parking lot itself and visitors use the nearby parking lot, the satisfaction of parking lot was so low. To improve the satisfaction of the visitors coming to Sejong Center, we need to secure the right of the operation and run directly. Also, we try to upgrade the uncomfortable entrance and exit system in the parking lot.
Second, according to result of the analysis whether satisfaction of the facilities depends on the frequence of the cultural life or not, the frequence of the cultural life affected neither of them(the satisfaction of the performing facilities, the satisfaction of Food-Beverage facilities nor the satisfaction of educational facilities)
It means that the loyal customers, who visit the theater regularly, put the performance contents before the facilities.
But to attract the loyal customers constantly, we have to make steady efforts such as saving the waiting time in the toilet(many customers complain about it) and extending the space for a short break.
Unlike general lecture room, educational facilities has to be fully equipped to use multi media and we try to provide high-tech image equipment.
Finally, in order to strengthen the competition as the cultural service space and to attract the customers constantly, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts should develop its own programs and provide a differentiated service that customers directly experience and lead them to revisit. By recommending to acquaintance and speaking positively, we can expect strong word of mouth effect and maximize the customer satisfaction, which has a positive effect not only on improving the image but also on the differentiation from other competitive performing places.
