雪嶽山 新興寺 佛像 硏究 = A Study on the Buddhist Sculpture of Shin-heung-sa Temple in the Sulak Mountain

Shin-heung-sa Temple in the Seorak mt. is historic temple which is built at A.D. 652. And there are the famous monks like Won-hyo and Eu-sang were practice Buddha's teaching.
The Wooden Amitabha Buddha Triad and Kshitigarbha Sculpture of Shin-heung-sa Temple are very brilliant and highly completed Buddha sculpture made in 1651.
Those two works of art are the work of Mu-yum(無染) and his apprentices. They are made the Buddha's scuipure of Bul-gap-sa, Bi-rae-sa and Song-rim-sa Temples etc. in the latter period of Cho-sun Dynasty. They're works are conceding as brilliant works.
Especially, the Wooden Amitabha Buddha Triad and Kshitigarbha Sculpture of Shin-heung-sa Temple are excellent technique and beauty of shape. So recently, they are designated as national treasures.
In addition, Shin-heung-sa Temple has many historic and sacred Buddhist treasures. These are the excellent cultural heritage. Also, these have the characteristics of the Buddhism in the latter period of Cho-sun Dynasty. So we need to have systematic studies and measures of conservation for the Shin-heung-sa Temple's Buddhist treasures.
