The purpose of this study is to find out variables that affect career maturity of university students who major in martial arts and define specific channels and influences to confirm optimal model for career maturity. In order to achieve the goal of this study, I had final sample as survey subject using convenience sampling on 396 university students who major in martial arts in universities located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Busan area in 2011. The research method was based on precedent researches and formed hypothesis model for this research. Self-esteem and self-efficacy were included as exogenous variables. Subjective well-being and career maturity were included as endogenous variables. Measurement variables for theoretical variables were 15, and confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis were conducted as measurement tools. With the resulted data, I conducted t-test, One-Way ANOVA analysis using SPSS 18.0 and LISREL(liner structural relationship; ver. 8.80). Then I conducted Duncan test, hypothesis model test, and correction model’s suitability test as multiple comparisons. The Results of this study are as followings:
First, in differences of career maturity regarding demographic social characteristics of university students who major in martial arts, there was significant difference in gender, grades, and training period and no significant difference in award winning experience.
Second, As a result of analysis of hypothetical model, the overall fit indexes are x2/df=4.22(354.89/84, p<.05), AGFI=.847, CN=131.429, GFI=.893, NFI=.879, NNFI=.880, RMSEA=.090, and RMSR=.067, and the correction of model was needed because hypothetical model and real materials were not matched.
In order to enhance the fitness of model and obtain the simple and clear model, 1 route was erased from the correction in consideration of simpleness, fitness index, and theoretical basis.
The fitness of correction model is x2/df=1.41 (97.55/69, p<.05), AGFI=.945, CN=390.217, GFI=.968, NFI=.966, NNFI=.983, RMSEA=.032, and RMSR=.036. It fitted to the real material of model because the fitness of model was improved compared to the hypothetical model. The test results of correction model suitable with correspondence index regarding endogenous variables are as follows.
(1) Subjective well-being index was high as self-esteem(t=2.64) and self-efficacy(t=2.32) were high.
(2) Career maturity index was high as subjective well-being (t=3.02), self-esteem(t=2.12) and self-efficacy(t=3.14) were high.
