In this research we hope to see how the self efficacy, communication apprehension, and life satisfaction effects internet addiction. For this we have used the data of 317 male and female students (235 male and 82 female) in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gyeongbuk area and we have used self efficacy, communication apprehension, life satisfaction, and simple Korean youth internet addiction measurement.
In order to find demographic characteristics, we have done t-test verification on self efficacy, communication apprehension, life satisfaction, and internet addiction and have done correlation analysis and multi regression analysis to find the effect of self efficacy, communication apprehension, life satisfaction of the university students on their internet addiction. As analysis method, we have used SPSS 18.0 program and the results are the following
First difference in communication apprehension and internet addiction according to gender was found. Girls showed higher stage of communication apprehension than boys and boys showed higher internet addiction than girls.
Secondly, differences in self efficacy, life satisfaction, internet addiction was found according to living conditions were found. The students living at home had lower self efficacy than those living away from home and the students living in their home showed higher life satisfaction and lower internet addiction.
Thirdly, meaningful differences in self efficacy control, the lower component of self efficacy, and life satisfaction were found according to academic accomplishment.
Fourth, the lower components of self efficacy, self confidence, self efficacy control, and life satisfaction were found to have effect in internet addiction with negative relation and positive correlation with the lowerer components of communication apprehension, group discussion, private conversations, meetings, public speaking. Also, as a result of regression analysis, it was found that self efficacy, communication apprehension, and life satisfaction accounted for 17.8% of internet addiction.
In this research we have researched the relationship among the variables that effect internet addiction, in order to find the hazardous factors that effect internet addiction in university students. In order for the students to grow into a healthy and upright member of society, we need to improve their self efficacy and life satisfaction while lowering their communication apprehension to guide them away from internet addiction and this research has its purpose in providing background information to developing such programs.
