      This study has been carried out to analyze a relation between the perception on the physical attractiveness and optimism of college students. Also, this study will indicate the difference and effect of physical attractiveness depending on basic variables and optimism. The results of this study are datas from 267male and 194female students From A university in Busan.


      1. Analysis of differences depending on basic variables

      1) When someone participated in physical activities, the satisfaction about his/her appearance is higher than that of do not, and when someone does not participated in physical activities, he/she showed a great dissatisfaction about his/her appearance, physical body, and desire to improve their appearance
      2) The result above is the same depending on a preference in doing physical activities. If one prefers to participate in physical activities, he/she shows satisfaction about his/her appearance. On the other hand, If one does not prefer to participate in physical activities, clear dissatisfaction is shown about hie/her appearance, physical body, and improvement of their appearance.
      3) In analyzing the physical attractiveness depending on heights, males students who are above 181cm tall think that among the physical attractiveness elements, the appearance is the best physical attractiveness and then weight, physical body, and legs. This perception is same for females students who are between 165cm and 170cm.
      4) In analyzing the physical attractiveness depending on weight, male students who are between 70~80kg and females students who are below 50kg, show satisfaction about his/her appearance, weight, physical body, legs in order.


      2. The effects of basic variables on physical attractiveness

      1) There was clear evidence that when students showed preference in doing sports, they feel confident about their physical attractiveness. This feeling of being confident also applies to students who are tall and weigh less.
      2) The more preference the students showed in doing physical activities, there is deeper relation with appearance.
      3) If students are lighter, taller and show more preference in doing activities, they show more satisfaction about weight.
      4) If students lighter, taller and show more preference in doing activities, they show more satisfaction about legs.
      5) If students are shorter, heavier, and show less preference in doing physical activities, they show great dissatisfaction about physical body.
      6) If students show less preference in doing physical activities, they have more desire to improve their physical body.


      3. A relation between physical attractiveness and optimism
      1) When there was more optimistic tendency, male and female students show more satisfaction about his/her appearance and physical body attractiveness, and legs, but weights are not affected by optimistic tendency.
      2) This study indicates that males students are more optimistic than female students.
      3) There is no connection between students' optimism and dissatisfaction about physical body, but there is between female students' desire to improve their physical body and optimism.
