Characters mean an personage that noy only have attractive appearance with originality, but also dynamic making struggles and relations with other characters. These characters transfer the subject and the massage of an animation through storytelling. And this make the function of educational animation for interest and education allowing people feel some empathies and identify oneself with the character. This study analyzes the character storytelling structure based on the principle that a successful production of an animation should construct a storytelling effectively. For an analysis, the researcher constructs the story-telling creation model from the actioner model of A.J. Greimas and the semiotic square. The results of the analysis is like these.
First, the background of an animation is set as a place that is opposite with a reality of civilization, standing for imaginations, innocence of childlike, However, there were animations that the main character's world is separated from the antagonist's world.
Second, the story-telling structure includes conflicts that emerge among characters. In the other category's animations, characters are classified clearly as good and evil or right and wrong.
Third, this study suggests two storytelling models: the actioner mode a simple structure and the storytelling model with severe conflicts among characters with helpers and antagonists.
forth, each educational animation of the two categories are filled of animations whose subjects are for an improvement of emotion, and animations whose subjects are to cultivate abilities and to transfer information. The results are like these. Early childhood can get a good set of values and moralities, by regarding him(her)self and characters in the same lights through watching problem solving procedures and structure of conflicts that emerged in the animation. This is a good example of massage transferring process of education animations, so it can be applied to the base of a creation activity. moreover, this study found that animations have differences in storytelling structures according to an educational subject. Differences on whether the educational subject is an emotional improvement or a cultivating ability can be found in the differences of storytelling structures. Additionally, this study identified that the education can be applied for educational subject. It is possible to expect that such implications can be a good theoritical base to animation producers, broadcasting companies that select and edit works, and policy agendas for animation improvement plans.
