This study examined pathways from parenting behavior to adolescent's
Internet addiction through difficulties in emotion regulation. Participants were
525 10th graders in Seoul. They completed questionnaries on parenting behavior,
difficulties in emotion regulation and Internet addiction. Data were analyzed
using Sobel test (Preacher & Hayes, 2004)for mediation. Both parental and
maternal acceptance-rejection indirectly influenced adolescent' Internet addiction
through difficulties in emotion regulation. In other words, difficulties in emotion
regulation significantly mediated the relationship between parenting
acceptance-rejection and Internet addiction; however, parenting acceptingrejection
failed to directly affect adolescent' Internet addiction. Result indicated
that no significant differences existed between male and female adolescents
regarding the above results
