ABSTRACT

A Study on Academic High School Students
Satisfaction of School Life

The purpose of this study is to examine overall school life of students through analyzation for the real state of overall school for academic high school students and the survey of school life's satisfaction, and to seek for the ways of improvement and change for education to increase the school life's satisfaction.

To achieve this purpose, the study is conducted by applying the following research subjects and methods.
First, the sampling subject of this study is for the 1st grader in each one of male and female sokcho-si academic high school located in Yongbuk area, Gangwon-do and each one of male and female Chuncheon-si academic high school located in Yongseo area, selected for 300 of male students, 300 of female students, a total of 600 people, and finally the sample of 577 people was used for analysis in this study.
Second, the research tools used for this study are the school life's satisfaction examination of previous researchers Jang,SinGuk(2002) calculated as Cronbach's a(inter-item consistency).9033, and 5 levels Likert rating scale composed of 1 question of a single synthesized examination and sub-7 fields.

The conclusions of this study drew by using above research methods and procedures are as follows.
First, the school life's satisfaction based on the gender of academic high school students had meaningful differences. In terms of satisfaction for overall school life, female students are higher than male students. When viewed in these results, the attitude of students who feel positive and closer for teachers influences overall school life.
Second, for satisfaction of overall school life based on school record, middle/upper rank students had higher satisfaction than lower rank students. Thus, teachers will study various teaching methods to help lower rank students feel interest in study, and will have continued interest for students to increase school life's satisfaction through various activities as well as the study.
Third, for satisfaction of overall school life based on home background, students who think the level of their home background is lower had low satisfaction than students who do not think that way.
In the field of school education teachers will usually have a special interest for students with low socio-economic level and faithfully carry out continuous life guidance and counseling activities to help students to have positive thoughts and enjoy school life.
Fourth, the satisfaction of overall school life by regional groups showed higher satisfaction of students who live in area located near the metropolitan.
This is interpreted as that students who live in the area that has relatively more opportunities for various cultures and the work world had higher interest in study and had higher school life's satisfaction by well adapting the study-oriented school life. So teachers will have to help students to choose their career through occupational search, and suggest the direction to focus on study according to occupational hope.

As we've seen above, the most influenceable thing for school life's satisfaction is 'the role of teachers'.
School is not the only place for acquiring knowledge, but also for an important role to raise socialization through the relationships between teachers and friends.
One word of a teacher is very important influences on school life of students.
If teachers treat students as human beings and guide subjects and life, students will feel that they are treated as human beings and received attention so they will follow teachers. This relationship between teachers and students affects a lot of school life's satisfaction for students.
The teacher should inspire self-confidence through endless praise and encouragement and the school should create a receptive atmosphere to lead the learners have strong confidence and faith for themselves. And they should establish the educational course to make the learners with confusion in values well understand themselves, and help them satisfy with school life by acting actively and aggressively.
