어머니교육을 통한 부모자녀간의 갈등적 관계개선에 관한 실험연구 : Thomas Gordon의 모델을 중심으로 = (An) experiment study on parent-child conflicts resolution through parents training

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 사회의 급격한 변천으로 인하여 부모자녀간의 갈등이 심화되고 있는 상황에서, 커뮤니케이션에 의한 갈등해결 방안을 제시한 Thomas Gordon의 이론에 대한 고찰과, 이 이론 적용에 관한 우리가정에서의 적정성을 실험적으로 분석, 검토하여 제시하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 그리고 광범위한 대인관계에 확대적용하여 인간간의 갈등을 원활히 해결하므로서 가족복지 및 사회사업 실천에 기여하고자 하는데 의의가 있다.
연구방법으로 문헌연구와 실험연구를 병행하였다. 이론적 고찰을 위한 문헌연구에서는, 현대사회에서 부모자녀간의 갈등발생 원인을 역할 수행관계의 측면에서 고찰하고 부모자녀간의 갈등 관계가 표현되는 커뮤니케이션의 기능과 역기능적인 측면을 살펴본 후 부모자녀간의 갈등관계를 해결할 수 있는 수단으로서 커뮤니케이션을 이용한 Gordon 이론의 기법을 중점적으로 고찰하였다.
실험적 연구는 실험집단의 전후 설계에 의해 실험집단을 구성하여 교육훈련전과 후의 각 상태를 동일설문 사항을 통해 조사하여 비교 분석했다.
실험결과는 교육수준과 경제수준이 높은 집단과 상대적으로 교육과 경제수준이 낮은 집단 모두 교육전에 비해 교육후가 향상되었으며, 교육수준, 경제수준, 출석율이 변수가 되어 향상폭이 달라졌다. 한편 실험 과정에서 피실험자로부터 얻은 결과는 이러한 교육프로그램이 효과적이라는 것이다.
결론적으로, 본 연구자는 우리사회에서 자녀와 효과적인 커뮤니케이션에 초점을 두는 부모교육이 필요하다고 보며, 이러한 일정 과정의 훈련을 거치면 부모 자녀간의 갈등 해결이 용이해질 수 있다고 본다. 따라서 앞으로 사회사업 분야에서 이러한 유형의 부모교육 프로그램을 우리 현실에 맞도록 개발하여 부모교육에 도움이 될 수 있기를 바란다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the modern industrial society, the rapid change of ones values results in widening the generation gap between the members of family. Particularly, the parent-child conflicts become one of the serious problems nowadays. To solve those problems not much attention has been attributed to the role of parents in our society. Especially in the case of Korean family which is confronted with many conflicts in the course of rapid industrialization, it seems effective to observe the problems of children in the context of family relations.
The hypothesis of this study is that the parent-child conflicts mainly come from the communication problems, and those conflicts might be improved through the inter-personal communication training of parents. Thus, this study intends to examine the applicability of P.E.T. (Parent Effectiveness Training) Program based on the theory of "No-Lose" Method, which is widely popularized among parents in North America, to Korean parents by means of experimental study.
For that, in chapter Ⅱ the roles of parents and children are examined within the context of current society, and the function of communication is discussed. And the method of conflicts resolution suggested by Thomas Gordon, in which "Active Listening" and "I-Message" are essential for the unequal status communications, is reviewed theoretically.
In chapter Ⅲ, the result of experimental study of P.E.T. program is reported in detail. Even though there remains some limitations coming from experiment group size, the result of experiment survey shows high effectiveness in group with higher educational background and higher income level after training.
So, as a result of this study, it is known that the parents' communication skills could be improved through training in our society too. And, as a new approach of social work to parent-child conflicts resolution, some kind of program should be developed and provided for the parents to learn the skills of two-way communication.
