The Internet, the 'sea of information', is closely related with our lives. It is an important tool we can't live without in the information society. The Internet makes life convenient but it can cause severe social problem like Internet game addiction from teenagers to adults. This research includes four questions below to look into how Internet game addiction has an influence on teenagers' emotion and problem solving skill. I carried out a survey targeting 342 male and female high school freshmen in Gimhae city and I used 319questionnaires to analyze the four questions above. I use Internet game addiction test, aggression test, impulsiveness test, social phobia test and problem solving test to analyze a survey. I did statistical analysis to process the result of collected data using SPSS(Version 18.0). For the first question, I divided students into two groups, addicted and unaddicted depending on the grade of Internet game addiction. Then, I did a frequency analysis which is converted the proportion of males to females into a percentage and a t-test to see the relations between the gender and the degree of Internet addiction. For the second question, I did a t-test with factors involved in the degree of Internet game addiction and teenagers' emotion. I did a t-test as well for the third question. Finally, I did Pearson's correlation analysis for the fourth question.
The results of the research are listed below.
First, Internet game addiction affects more male students than female students.
Second, aggression, impulsiveness and social phobia is higher in an addicted group to the Internet game addiction than in an unaddicted group.
Third, Internet game addiction and problem solving skill is not apparently connected.
