The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of physical education of high school on physical self-concept, self-efficacy and school life satisfaction.
In order to analyse the data, this study used a convenience sampling. Questionnaires survey were distributed to 500 male and female students in highschool which were located in Seoul city and Gyeonggi province. As a results of data analysis, the findings of this study are as follows :
First, as for the preference of physical education class depending on individual traits, 17-year-old students showed high preference of physical education class. In terms of gender, male students more prefer the physical education class than female students. In terms of health condition, students who regard themselves very heathy showed the highest preference of physical education class. Students who have a weak constitution showed relatively low preference of physical education class. Those results mean healthy 17-year-old male students have high preference of physical education class.
Second, as for the satisfaction of physical education teacher depending on individual traits, 17-year-old students showed high satisfaction of physical education teacher. In terms of gender, male students more satisfied with the physical education teacher than female students. In terms of the health condition, students who regard themselves very heathy showed the highest satisfaction of physical education teacher. Students who have a weak constitution showed relatively low satisfaction of physical education teacher. Those results mean healthy 17-year-old male students have high satisfaction of physical education teacher.
Third, as for the satisfaction of physical activities depending on individual traits, 15-year-old students showed high satisfaction of physical activities. In terms of gender, male students more satisfied with the physical activities than female students. In terms of the health condition, students who regard themselves very heathy showed the highest satisfaction of physical activities. Students who have a weak constitution showed relatively low satisfaction of physical activities. Those results mean healthy 15-year-old male students have satisfaction of high physical activities.
Forth, as for the satisfaction of physical education environment depending on individual traits, 15-year-old students showed high satisfaction of physical education environment, 17-year-old students showed relatively low satisfaction of physical education environment. However, it's not statistically significant differences. In terms of gender, male students more satisfied with the physical education environment than female students. According to the health condition, students who regard themselves very heathy showed the highest satisfaction of physical education environment. Students who have a weak constitution showed relatively low satisfaction of physical education environment. Those results mean healthy 17-year-old male students have high satisfaction of physical education environment.
Fifth, as for the satisfaction of physical education class depending on individual traits, 15-year-old students showed high satisfaction of physical education class, 16-year-old students showed relatively low satisfaction of physical education class. In terms of the health condition, students who regard themselves very healthy showed high physical self-concept, students who have a weak constitution showed relatively low physical self-concept. Those results mean healthy male students have high physical self-concept.
Seventh, as for the physical self-efficacy depending on individual traits, 15-year-old students showed high physical self-efficacy, 17-year-old students showed relatively low physical self-efficacy. It's statistically significant differences. In terms of gender, male students showed higher physical self-efficacy than female students. In terms of the health condition, students who regard themselves very healthy showed high physical self-efficacy, students who have a weak constitution showed relatively low physical self-efficacy. Those results mean healthy younger male students have high physical self-efficacy.
Eighth, as for the satisfaction of school life depending on individual traits, 15-year-old students showed high satisfaction of school life, 17-year-old students showed relatively low satisfaction of school life. It's statistically significant differences. In terms of gender, male students showed higher self-efficacy than female students. In terms of the health condition, students who regard themselves very healthy showed high satisfaction of school life, students who have a weak constitution showed relatively low satisfaction of school life. Those results mean healthy male students have high satisfaction of school life.
Ninth, in order to examine the effects of physical education satisfaction on physical self-concept, self-efficacy and school life satisfaction, the regression analysis was conducted. The conclusions of this analysis are as follows. If participants have high preference of physical education class and satisfaction of physical education class, they have high physical self-concept. If participants have high satisfaction of physical education class, they have high physical self-concept. Also,the participants who have high satisfaction of physical education class(satisfaction of teacher, satisfaction of physical activities, and satisfaction of physical education environment) showed high satisfaction of school life. As for the effects of physical self-concept on satisfaction of school life, participants who have high physical self-concept showed high satisfaction of school life. In terms of the sub-factors of physical self-concept, the regression coefficient is positive. However, appearance, health, flexibility, regular exercise, body fat, sports confidence and endurance are not meaningful. Therefore, the students who have strong muscular strength showed high satisfaction of school life, any other factors, however, didn't affect on satisfaction of school life.
Lastly, the students who have high physical self-efficacy showed high satisfaction of school life. In terms of the sub-factors of physical self-efficacy, the regression coefficient is positive. Therefore, the students who have high social efficacy, physical efficacy, and self-value showed high satisfaction of school life.
